    Halo 3 http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/ima ... 327803.jpg

only thing that i notice is that they throw a bunch of blur on shit.

You would expect a game in devolpment for aslong as halo 3 to look better.
The lighting in the Halo 3 screenshot looks way better than the Halo 2 version.
The lighting in the Halo3 shot shows some super nice shadows/lighting effects

It really doesn't matter what sony pulls out of their ass. Fanboys are still going to be crawling over Halo 3 like spider-man on a wall.

I would just like to point out that Lighting effects and Nice Shadows mean shit cause you'll never see them.
You won't stare at a wall and go
    "Damn, look at it shine"
"Damn that Elite has one sexy shadow"

I would also point out that Beta and Final are usually very different.

And finally, I would also like to point out, that it doesn't fucking matter.

It's not a question of being impressed with shadows and lighting and other subtle effects. It's about creating an environment that suspends disbelief more effectively. More realistic lighting and shadows does just that. It might not matter to you, but it sure matters to me.

That's all well and good for a Doom3, Hitman or Manhunt, but you don't always need things that look even vaguely realistic (WoW anyone?) to have a good game. Suspension of disbelief works a lot better without the 14-year-olds shouting in their headsets.

What's that? More hype for a game that won't ever meet expectations again.

Right, but for this game the visuals are being presented in a realistic manner. The closer they get to realism the more immersive the game will be. That doesn't mean that immersive automatically equates to a good game (and I never said that.) For those who like realistic looking games as opposed to WoW-style graphics, Halo 3 looks significantly better than Halo 2 in my opinion.

(And yes, immature morons shouting into a headset will ruin any game, unless the person playing likes immature morons.)

Maybe they'll add something like warhawk where you can mute people who shout.

Whoaaa, easy there, fanboy t('-'t) Nobody is trashing your nintenbox360, no reason to get all defensive All I'm saying is different strokes for different folks. I like my fps to be semi realistic (well, it's a game, how realistic can it get?), gritty, and with a post apocalyptic kind of atmosphere. Hence, the shadow comments as means to immerse the player and blah blah blah. Furthermore, Killzone 2 reflects that, my taste in fps. If you like the psychedelic colours, and shooting rainbows out of your ass, then more power to you, negative Nancy ('-')/

Please don't defend Killzone 2. It's shaping up to be mediocre.

    On a side note:
FUCK YEAH I'D BUY A FPS WHERE I SHOOT RAINBOWS OUT OF MY ASS

    Bioshock...

If you're basing it on that gameplay video, they better fix those enemies, they stand right in the open and shoot at you. lame

    Re: Sony's anti halo campaign?

I never really thought of Halo as being "realistic looking", mostly because you spend 100% of the time inside brightly colored, low-poly armor. Then again, most of the game footage I've seen is from RvB, which is made in Halo 1 (hey look, a tank that shoots big glowing particle clouds). If Halo 3's graphics actually look more like Doom3 than GTA3, it's news to me. What's more, I never get particularly "immersed" in games these days (being a powergamer tends to make it harder).
