How much alcohol do I need?

I really don't know who or where to ask and people have been giving me very different numbers so any help is appreciated.

I am having a party next month, about 125 people will be attending and I have no idea how much alcohol will be needed. Out of the 125 people I would say about 80-90 of them drink. There will be 2-3 people bartending so don't have to worry about people pouring their own stuff and wasting it. The party will be ~5 hours.

Beer:
Will probably have two kegs one Heineken, one of Bud/Light or Coors Light.

Any idea how many bottles of hard liquor I should buy? I plan on buying all the normal liquor plus some stuff to make the fruity shit girls and some guys like.

Well I was at an ASU party last week, frat party, maybe 40-50 people, and there were 2 kegs, both were empty at the end of the night. I'd plan on more than 2 kegs. Maybe 4.

Also depends on a lot of shit man. What kind of crowd is coming (I wouldn't have much more than beer at my parties), if people plan on bringing their own shit, how many girls will be there (body shots likeomg!). Play it safe, get more than you need.

I think it has something to do with the Civil War crossover. Basically some noob heroes let a villain blow up a school, and now the government wants to make heroes get a licensce or something. So everyone that Marvel still publishes picks a side and they go at it. Nothing really gets resolved, and the story continues in all the individual story arcs. There will be both family and friends there so not an all out drinking party. It is at a rented out hall so we have it for five hours that's why I was planning on two kegs. Food will also be served. I don't want to run out of alcohol but I also don't want to have a ton of bottles left over so i'm trying to find something in between.

No one is bringing their own stuff, I am supplying everything.

In a lot of rented halls, they usually have rules against bringing in your own alcohol. It helps prevent underage drinking as well as opens up a bigger ability for lawsuits if someone gets hurt.

I would bring enough to satisfy the 'family' part of that party and ask friends to BYOB. Spending too much money on alcohol that's largely going to be consumed by your friends only is inappropriate in the mixed friends/family context IMO.

141 cups is quite a bit. Assuming there are no raging alcoholics in your family 2 kegs should be more than enough.

100 beers per keg roughly. Unless everyone's only having one, you better get more than 2 kegs.

If you're doing liquor as well, oh my god it's going to be expensive. Get well liquors if you can (the 10dollars/bottle kind), most people don't give a shit what it is as long as its free. Also, if you're doing liquor, you need mixers. You need sprite, coke, orange juice, cranberry, grapefruit, red bull, ginger ale, tonic, and soda. That should be a good start.

God help you if you want to do shots such as Rumpleminz, Goldschlagger, Patron, or Jager. These will be gone in lightning speed if available. But you'll have one hell of a party that's for sure.

you need a wap or 2. buy two insanely huge rubbermaid containers, a large assortment of of bottom shelf (cheap) liquor, and a lot of fruit (the ones that absorb liquid are better, watermelon, bananas, peaches, etc). mix the liquor and the fruit together, get some plastic cups, solo brand are a excellent size, and you are set.

Thanks for the help and thank you everyone. Well liquor is what I planned on buying along with all the stuff to mix with it. Only shot type liquors I was planning on were Jager and Patron will they last no but whoever shows up first will have a blast lol.

If you're selling liquor or charging admittance fees (tickets, drink vouchers, etc) then you may need to get a liquor license - depending on your state/county/municipality bylaws.

I've run a few Young Liberal party/fundraisers and the biggest problem in renting a hall is that you need to get a liquor license in B.C. to either have a cash bar or open bar but charge for tickets. It's a major pain in the ass when trying to get something together because on top of a sometimes thin margin on the booze, the venue rental, and then the one-night liquor license it can get pretty rough.

However, if it's on private property you may be okay, and you may want to consult the owners of the hall you're renting in case they forgot to tell you need one. Oh, and if you do need to get a liquor license expect for cops to show up at least once in the evening to make sure everything's okay and there are no underage drinkers.

It's a Knights of Columbus Hall, they said nothing about a license or anything they just said if you want alcohol you bring it, if you want kegs we can get them from our vendor at a discount. It's setup so all the tables and guests are in one room and there is a full bar in the room next door.

They run their bar year round, it's open each night like a normal bar but when they rent the place out it shuts down for you, so they have a liquor license on the premises already.

There will be no admittance fees or any charge at all for anyone.

I'm not the best at explaining things but I know you don't need to get a license or permit or anything like that to have alcohol and this place.

Oh okay, that's cool. Just around where I live the only venues or halls that have a standing liquor license forbid you from bringing your own alcohol in for events, you have to use the place's bar and booze. Otherwise, you pretty much need a license.
