I always thought it was a bit strange SE didn't do something before because you could argue that its broken when a job doesn't use the weapon they have the highest rating in 99.99% of the time because it's inefficient. I'm not willing to argue the point but just something to think about.
Perhaps... but GAX being slightly better than DW axes isn't really broken. I think when people say "lulz, GAX is broken" ... they mean it's significantly kicking DW axes ass.

I partied with a WAR I know who is pretty strong with DW Axes (no adaberk), but since the patch he's been using Rune Chopper (w/ Refresh) and seriously killing everything in sight. If the latter build was only slightly better, mobs would be dying at the same relative pace ... but they aren't, they just get shattered into oblivion.

Not sure why they omitted this, but the update is boosting not just automaton stats, but those of all Avatars, Wyverns and Beastmaster pets, which had also been inadvertently lowered.

Not a PUP buff at all, considering they're returning it to how it was before the update. If they make it higher than what it was predate, then that's a buff.
Oh I thought they meant to raise the stats but didn't, not that they lowered them
How significant a decrease did PUP's Automatons stats get?

I'm curious because they use "ability statistics" twice, and I don't think slightly lower INT would explain why people were seeing a ton of resists on various mobs' spells. Otherwise Black Mages would have been highly resistant to magic to begin with stacking 30+ on in gear and all.
It's not really slightly lower, it's noticably lower. Stats are randomly lower, and HP/MP is significantly lower. Stormwaker should have 900+ MP naturally, but with Mana Tank I and II on it goes up to like 880 instead of near 1000. My Valoredge could reach 1800 HP with Auto Repair Kit I and II, now it's only at 1600. Shit like that. I don't think the fix will make BLM head omgfantastic against stuff now, but it will certainly help.

When you say that it was omitted, was that in the Japanese POL update notes? I'm never on my BST anymore, so I don't really know if jugs are weaker, but that's interesting if it's the case.

On that note, is there anything the Japanese version says that isn't said in ours?

Just that, basically, along with the "upper limit" specific regarding the adjustment of two-handed weapon damage like last time.

Perhaps they didn't omit it, they just forgot and won't be fixing avatars, wyverns, or beastmaster pets.

I thought that Elmer was saying that Avatars, Wyverns and Beastmaster pets were included in the JP notes, but I could have misinterpreted.

I thought he was just saying that the update will be boosting them, too, but the update notes omitted it.

Gee, thanks for clarifying that for me.

Part of me thinks it'll mostly be a nerf, but I keep thinking they've already given the 2-handers a taste of the sexiness, what happens if/when they nerf it again...going to have a LOT of angry ppls >.>

Maybe, maybe not; alot of people are angry at how broken this is, even some of the 2 handers. There are Sam's, etc in my linkshell that even agree this is to much. I'm sure a few will be angry, but I think most will feel it was a needed nerf (for once, lol).

    NERFNERFNERFNERF.

Read. It's not working properly. They're fixing it. Fixing something that isn't working properly is not a nerf, it was never intended to be that way. Gawd...

    - All random number calculations for damage amounts are not being calculated properly.

    - Amount of damage is not being corrected properly when characters are equipped with two-handed weapons.

No problem, and just so you know, your post made it sound like you had no clue.

    Re: Update Details 9/6/07

These changes weren't around long enough to be considered nerfs.

To be honest, the changes they made in the last update probably weren't mistakes or miscalculations; rather, they implemented and wanted to see what would happen because they usually follow up with an emergency maintenance anyway.

Some might say I have too much faith in SE, but I'm pretty sure WS and damage calculations will be bumped down to a reasonable level for 2H weapon users.

As for weapon skills, my lowest raging rush was around 950 where as my highest ws was around 2400, my average was around 1300-1400. It just seemed a tad broken to me to get tp faster, do more dot, and do more ws damage.

Well, comparing Fortitude Axe to Maneater+Joyeuse isn't exactly a fair comparison, because the Jailer weapons are obviously supposed to be significantly more powerful than most everything else. When it comes down to it, Fortitude Axe is a 64 DMG weapon with a delay of 336, which is much faster than Woodville/Maneater (delay 451 with Suppa) and right on par with Maneater/Joyeuse (delay 340 with Suppa). It's obvious why the Fortitude Axe should win in DOT; it's hitting the same speed as Man/Joy, but with a significantly higher DMG rating.

So then I guess the ranger nerf never existed, since ranged weapons were "not intended" to be the overwhelmingly superior source of damage in every situation? They really just fixed something that was not working as intended.

And on top of that, it can attack 2 or 3 (w/double attack) times. Or even 4 times, in the case of THF.

    Re: Update Details 9/6/07

For all any of you know it could mean "not calculated correctly" as in "weapon critical hit damage is supposed to be higher and less frequent" or "attack rating caused players to hit a damage cap" and it could mean "not working properly" as in "should be doing more damage" or "shouldn't be doing this much damage as frequently".
