Underrated T.V. Shows

Basically, the idea is to list a few underrated or underappreciated T.V. shows (animated included) that have either been cancelled, or are still somewhat under the radar. No limit on the genre, obviously, although all of mine are comedies (I rarely watch anything else).

1) Arrested Development
2) Home Movies
3) Toss-up between Andy Richter CTU and Futurama. I like the latter much, much more, but a lot of people like it. I just think it's on par, if not better, than the Simpsons (barring the few critical seasons)

Arrested Development never got the light of day, because people watched it casually -- but I haven't seen someone who's watched it from start to finish say it wasn't a top-5 show of all-time (despite being short-lived). My favorite comedy series, bar none.

I can't get enough Home Movies. The show is absolutely hilarious. I'm a big fan of The Office, and like that, this animated series is very dialogue based. If you haven't seen it, get the DVDs. Well worth the watch.

Firefly (pissed me off they cancelled after only 14-15 episodes, and the movie was good but still a cheap way to tie up the loose ends the series created)
John Doe (good concept, but they cancelled it after 1 season, and on a fuckin cliffhanger no less)

People will probably disagree with me (and I think they did back when it was out) but I really enjoyed Blade: The Series; too bad it got axed after setting it up for a good second season.

Its from the US, its a very realistic and honest police/crime drama, shown on HBO I believe. They just finished shooting the 5th and final season, here's a link. A lot of people say its very slow moving and more like a novel, but if you have the patience to get in to it, its well worth it!

Rome, it just finished out on HBO and released all the DVDs recently. It's a really well-written and well-executed series. However, as far as HBO series go it feels like it sometimes gets buried under the popularity of The Sopranos.

...The OC is neither underrated nor underappreciated -- quite the opposite. Teen drama with no talent assclowns doing the acting. No thanks.


It's Always Sunny -- I definitely need to start watching that show.
