The BST's and THF's in Teriggan are interchangeable, as any BLU trying to lvl off BST pets only to be foiled by a cocksucking 75rdm who comes along and Krakenclubs all the BST's to death can tell you.

I thought all Beastman mobs could change jobs as long as there was a certain number up, leaving a few extra.
Like, around the Boreal (Coeurl? Northeastern most GK2 mob in Xarc) spot, there are Gigas that have Tiger pets.
I've gotten the area converted from 2 Bst's nearby, to two in the back (out of three back there) and 5 out front, nearly infinite pulls for pets.
To do so though, I had to go kill every Bst Gigas in the nearby area, while killing the ones around the camp that weren't Bst type beat down.
After a while they just respawned as Bsts nearby, and various other jobs far away.
There are plenty of other places where different mobs share spawns, but if the number of Aerns up in the main area really coincide with the number of 2hrs that AV has... although if this was related to the 2hr lock as we currently suspect it, then their should only be 7 pairs so that one of the pair would constantly be down. Unless maybe it's a double switch and you need BOTH aerns of that job to be down (maybe the OP of the Aern-lock got lucky).
They guy did say that on the 5th run, they messed up and left the BLM aern up and got Manafonted to hell. If we can get him to post again and maybe see if they just happened to get AV down to 79%, or if that was at some higher random interval, then we could get a bit more insight on this.3) Iirc, AV doesn't use manafont til under 80%, because he couples it with meteor/comet. I'm 99% sure the poster of this AV theory never saw manafont because he never got AV even close to 79%.
I'm not supporting this theory blindly as some may assume. I'm as skeptical as the next guy, and I realize that the OP of this strat may be stupid/lying/lucky, but at the moment, it's the best we have to go on. Also keep in mind that AV's regen wasn't the ONLY hint we got; they also mentioned something about "the mobs surrounding AV", which, to me, sounds like it might have something to do with what we're pursuing right now.

Strat been done. the Wynav been held in another part of zone while AV was pulled to bridge. keeping him away from pets doesn't do anything, he still chainspell and manafont which allows him to meteor.
During the Zerg to lock regen has anyone tried zerging him with just the Jailer weapons with virtue Stones themselves??? see if during that Zerg certain message pop up or something happens. to be quite honest, his evasions is sooo low that level 5 toons were able to hit it while holding it...

guarantee you're not going to find a message that someone hasn't found before. remember, there's a string table on the client side with every word any NPC can say in any zone for any reason. this is how we can find information about quests, missions, ranks, etc before the servers even come up. given the number of people combing every last shred of information about AV like it's the JFK assassination, if there were any such message in the dat files, someone would have found it and a fervor would have been started over it. jailer weapons, torques, waving virtues at AV, etc. have all been tried to great extent. it was one of the first concepts ever thrown about as a possible way to beat AV. i'd imagine that if jailer weapons, ebon panels, etc had any bearing on the fight, we'd have found it by now.Originally Posted by Fadian of Fairy

i just figured it out, we have to use him in the pit and then we can find his weaknesses!

Copy it over ROM3/3/15.DAT, just make sure to back up the original first. Anyways, I seriously doubt the aerns are related to AV in any way, shape, or form. The paired aerns really just seem like they're part of the level design. RNG is also absent from any aern pair, so any kind of all encompassing theory in regards to paired aerns wouldn't make sense. However, if you'd like to download the dat and make sure all of the BLM/WHM/NIN/whatever aerns are 'down', feel free.
Just another idea to toss into the ether. Let's assume that the times hes been locked before was a glitch. We can't recreate it using tradition methodology. That taken into account, maybe there is a different route to lock 2hrs. That being said, how many LS's have tried to kill the aerns while JoL was still up? Assuming that you took SE at their word, actions taken during the JoL fight can affect AV. Might be worth a test, if it hasn't already been tried.
Lets assume that the times he was locked before wasn't a glitch.Originally Posted by kareface

Very nice work, but 3 pairs with BST/SMN, and only one with BRD/WHM? You sure you didn't get one of these mixed up? All the other ones have exactly 2 instances of each pair.Code:02'aern[BST]-04'aern[SMN] 05'aern[WAR]-13'aern[SAM] 07'aern[PLD]-09'aern[DRK] 14'aern[MNK]-17'aern[THF] 15'aern[BLM]-16'aern[RDM] 20'aern[NIN]-21'aern[DRG] 23'aern[BST]-24'aern[SMN] 26'aern[WAR]-32'aern[SAM] 33'aern[NIN]-35'aern[DRG] 36'aern[WHM]-39'aern[BRD] 37'aern[PLD]-38'aern[DRK] 40'aern[SMN]-45'aern[BST] 41'aern[MNK]-44'aern[THF] 42'aern[BLM]-43'aern[RDM]
The way I see it, assuming these statistics are correct, and IF this does indeed have anything to do with locking AV then their are a few possibilities:
A) Mistake by SE (not intending to only have a single WHM/BRD team) making Bene/SV non-lockable because it requires a double switch and you need to control BOTH pairs of Aerns
B) Not a mistake by SE, you aren't supposed to lock Bene/SV. (Assuming double switch)
C) Intentional to make it EASIER to lock Bene/SV assuming that the code requires you control "All instances of Aerns with the job WHM/BRD"
D) This has nothing to do with AV and so nobody gives a damn that there is only one WHM/BRD team whether it's a mistake or not.
If holding one or both of these pairs is in any way related to locking AV, I think the best way to hold them would be 1-2 BLMs and 1-2 BLUs. You would want to gather them all to one spot and get a Sleepga on them. Then plant the BLU directly in the middle of them and allow them to get hate while the Aerns are sleeping (Cure the BLM then maybe do a couple Exuviations or Magic Fruits in +Enmity gear) then when they wake up, hit em with a Temporal Shift or Actinic Burst while the BLM re-applies Sleepga, or perhaps the BLU could use Soporific and then the BLM could wait 30-60 seconds before overwriting with SleepgaII. Maybe add a RDM to the team to handle those stray PLDs that might trait-resist the sleeps, and for the random sleeps that are bound to occur at some point of the fight.
Assuming that AV is meant to be the hardest fight in the game, it would not surprise me in the least if SE made all this crowd control a vital part of the fight; I mean look at JoL, Bv2, Vrtra, and Kirin, all of which were considered the hardest mobs in the game for a time due to adds. Especially Vrtra, as most of the adds from that fight had nothing to actually do with Vrtra herself (sounds like a female name to me O.o)
How about;
1. Hold JoL at 1%.
2. Kill all Aern's.
3. Kill JoL.
4. Let AV pop.
5. AV has no 2hrs of dead Aerns.
6. ???.
7. Profit!
?
