I was at work listening to the Bengals game. Good game with the exception of the ref. call from what I understand. (Kinda hard to really know what's going on in the game without seeing it yourself/being in Cinci and all the calls are one sided. >.>) Regardless, our defense kicked ass tonight. With the Reds pretty much blowing it, I'm praying that the Bengal's will make some sort of impact this year.

As for the signal stealing, go QQ some more. They recorded signals that were done on a field in front of 50,000 people with dozens of cameras around. If you don't think signal stealing happens in practically every sport, then you are incredibly naive. Chances are that your team does it too.

Only the last half of the 4th quarter. The drive that the 49ers put together at the end was intense. The rest of the game almost put me to sleep. I still can't tell if it was the fact that both defenses were playing really well or both QBs were downright sucking.

2007 neck injury

On September 9, 2007, in the opening game for the 2007 NFL Season, while attempting to tackle Denver Bronco Domenik Hixon, Everett sustained a neck injury that resulted in his transport off the field by ambulance and emergency surgery at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital.[1] The injury was described as a cervical spine injury. Following the lengthy surgery, Everett's agent, Brian Overstreet, expressed hope that the injured player would be able to walk, but also reported Everett's movement as "sparse."[5] Aside from his eyes, Everett had not shown any signs of movement on the field after sustaining the injury.[6] He is expected to spend one or two days under sedation as doctors evaluate the severity of his injury.[7]

As of September 11, 2007, Everett remained on a respirator, but was able to breathe on his own when it was briefly turned off. Cappuccino described Everett's respiratory risks as among the issues he described as life-threatening. He also described how techniques such as intra-venous methods to reduce Everett's body temperature in an attempt to reduce the damage caused by the injury were applied while Everett was en route to the hospital for treatment. Cappuccino described Everett as an "NFL athlete [with] a warrior's mentality," who showed concern primarily for his family, and who asked doctors to do everything they could for him.

Everett's injury is reminiscent of Mike Utley, a former Detroit Lions player who was paralyzed by a hit in 1991 during a game against the Los Angeles Rams.[9] Utley himself has expressed concern for Everett.

Bills players also express major concern, with one stating that "we were all waiting for him to give the thumbs up [referring to a gesture that Utley made as he was carried off the field after suffering his paralyzing injury]. But he never did."

WIVB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Buffalo, reported on September 11, 2007 that Bills TE Kevin Everett has regained voluntary movement in his arms and legs, a huge improvement compared to the prognosis given just the day prior. Everett's doctors are more optimistic now than when they first expected him to not walk again, a diagnosis made days ago.

Later on September 11, 2007, ESPN reported that Kevin's doctors were even more optimistic with the strength of movements he gained; they claimed, joyfully, that he may be able to possibly walk out of the hospital.

While the majority of the time I tell myself that football is one of those professions where serious injuries should be nothing short of expected, when spinal cord injuries occur, I feel really bad for them. I hope he walks again.

Yeah Everett's injury is really terrible, glad to hear the prognosis is a lot more optimistic than what we were hearing on monday. I watched that game at the local bills backers bar and everyone was really, really bummed when we didn't see the thumbs up or any signs of movement at all. We're all gonna get together before the game next weekend and take pics and try to make something to send him. This poor guy's brief carreer has been rough with injuries (missed rookie season, only played a bit last season) and now to have this happen? Brutal. Noone (around here at least) is bitching or moaning about the game itself, though we were before we found out about the severity of Everett's status. The injury puts it in a bit more perspective.

What do you want me to say? "Grossman is awesome just give him time!"? Everyone knows by now that he isn't cut out to be a starting QB yet. To be honest we'd be better off with Griese because he's more experienced. Our defense played excellently for the most of the game like i mentioned before, but our offense couldn't do anything. We have good WRs, Good TEs, and a veteran and top-notch Offensive Line. Our running game is lacking also. Cedric Benson showed last season that he he could do well against certain teams but he didn't against the Chargers. That's about it.
