I think that it's pretty hilarious that all the people who didn't donate are upset about what the money (that they didn't contribute) is being used for.

Nowhere in the 6 pages of this thread is there a single person saying, "I donated, I received a mousepad/t-shirt, and I'm pissed about my donation being wasted on it."

That's presuming that the people giving them a hard time are doing it on the behalf of the donators as opposed to just calling someone out for handling something ridiculously poorly and saying they addressed it beforehand when they clearly did not.

No, I'm specifically referring to the people bitching that 1.9k on swag is a poor use of the money that they had nothing to do with. I don't hear any of the people who got mousepads/t-shirts (you know, the actual people who donated) complaining about it.

Furthermore, the fact that people are even MENTIONING the swag as a "waste" rings pretty f*cking hollow when you consider the very conditions of donation:

Starting February 6th, 2007 any donation of $5 or more will get a new forum rank and new rank image. Any donation of $25 or more will get you an FFXIclopedia mousepad. Any donation of $50 or more will get you an FFXIclopedia t-shirt.

So I guess we're supposed to be morally outraged about the lack of accountability to the benefactors, but at the same time, buying the mousepads and t-shirts that you promised them is a blatant waste of funds? GG on consistency, there.

According to your posts (please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) you only leased two servers. Assuming you didn't lease them until after the fundraiser, I'm being very generous in assuming you've only had them for 7 months. I'm being very generous in assuming that you paid $250/month for each server. (See: http://www.layeredtech.com/dedicated-se ... rprise.php, LayeredTech is incredibly overpriced, and every server on that page is way over the hardware you would need to host a wiki, considering you have the database and web servers on separate machines.) If you're going to disprove me on this point please post the specs of both machines (I think Ganiman will have to do that, because it seems like this wouldn't be your thing.) FFXIClopedia's machines are probably somewhere within this range anyways. That's roughly 3.5 grand, assuming you've had the servers for 7 months.

I would give you the benefeit of the doubt and say that you just rounded up extravagantly, but if we go to http://forums.ffxiclopedia.org/viewtopic.php?t=3548 we see that this is around the time the servers were leased. Assuming that you paid for May, June, July, August, and September, that's 2.5 grand, which is just a little over what you spent on mousepads.

Nothing serious. Yag Avatar got fucked up and for some reason SE didn't mention will no longer spawn his PH within his 21-24 hour window every 4 to 5 days after you kill him.

I.E. When the server tries to spawn Tzee Xicu the Manifest during his 21-24 hour pop time he won't come out and ends up respawning the PH again at JP midnight in Japan.

I'll start camping it again tomorrow and see if they Ninja fixed it.

Tzee isn't spawned in the true sense. Her AI is active (she's walking around) but she has the same properties as say, an Elemental that despawned after weather ended. I don't have any screenshots, but I can take some if the problem is still present. (And someone pops it on Leviathan, god knows I'm too lazy.)

I thought the code to create the day 1 spawn window for Avatar was attached to the Tzee's death. No dead Tzee means no restarting the Avatar lottery. My initial take on the problem was that an entry in the "what mobs are spawned" table failed to be flushed properly, which meant that further Tzee spawns actually failed, and the game fell back on catastrophe-avoidance code by attaching Tzee's death events to the next JP midnight instead.

People commiting fraud for 7K? That makes about as much sense as breaking into a bank and stealing a stapler.

However, I wouldn't consider anything they did as fraud even if their servers were free. You obviously don't understand the value of time. 7K over 5 months is less than minumum wage. If they claimed the entire amount went to admin. fees, I wouldn't hold that against them.
