I am shockingly sure minded that I will be repeating this over and over in this thread. Perhaps you should look into how charities operate, tax-exemption status, etc. I will be clear again here because I think in the fervor that will be ignited by this thread will cause a multitude of mindless "me too" posts; The wiki is not a charity. At most, if you feel wronged, you could call the IRS to report that the wiki did not report the income. If you want to report fraud, go ahead, but again, you have to prove malicious intent. Which you can't.
Simply asking for an explanation without all the fluffy diatribes on hookers and booze will likely get you closer to an answer.
See I really disprove of this, I run my LS's Vent server off of donations. with that said I post bills and account totals when bills are paid and I realize that it's on a smaller scale, a much smaller scale, but still not donating because you fell like your going to get riped off isn't really the way to look at it. People should just do some homework on what your going to donate to, and make sure that they are going to give your money to the cause that you have chosen.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
No they didnt, you can read the first announcement thread on their forum, and he says they rent them. When you rent servers, it's in a server farm far away from your actual location, and it's done monthly.Originally Posted by ringthree
ringthree, there's no need to repeat yourself, other than your personal need for conflict.
I just want my $10 back.![]()
We get it ringthree, you think that everybody who wants donations is a douchebag and there is no such thing as a good charity.
So what your saying is that they are a company, one where there customers gave money and where not delivered the goods that they where promised. yup that totally sounds like fraud.Originally Posted by ringthree
Assuming you donated $10, the best you can hope for is about $4.50 back since some of the money was already spent. That's assuming that the legal fees associated with the move are being handled for free by Mierin, which there's certainly no guarantee of.Originally Posted by Luto
No, what he's saying is that you have been delivered the goods, and are still being delivered the goods, and instead of flailing your arms around like a retard with down syndrome you should ask for clarification like a normal human being. So what your saying is that they are a company, one where there customers gave money and where not delivered the goods that they where promised. yup that totally sounds like it's going to win people over.

You are missing the most important part of that statement. (The "etc," was to imply that something was done with the money, I did not know what happened to the money, which is completely irrelevant to the discussion.)Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Deal.
Once you handed over the money to the Wiki people, it was no longer yours. They have no accountability to you, or anyone. They are not a charity. You gave money to a friend, they used it.
If you want to know what happened to the money, just ask. They will either answer you or they wont. This forum is just basically a high school after school drama production anymore, ready to jump on anything to provide them with entertainment.
<Fallso> Hey
<Mierin> ??
<Fallso> I was gonna ask you something
<Mierin> ok
<Fallso> As you know ffxiclopedia transfered to wikia...so what happened to the donation money that was going to be used for the servers when ffxiclopedia was going to host itself
<Mierin> I'm reading the thread
<Mierin> I see many people have made extremely incorrect assumptions
<Mierin> Once I'm done reading the thread, I will respond
<Mierin> But in short
<Mierin> The servers were leased, as we stated we would
<Mierin> We raised roughly $9k
<Mierin> We've spent roughly $5.5 on leasing the servers
<Mierin> We spent roughly $1.9k on the t-shirts and mousepads that we gave out as thank yous
<Mierin> We have roughly $2k left
<Mierin> Now that we have moved to wikia, we are working on various ideas on how to give the money back to the community
<Mierin> We are debating doing a raffle where we buy a lot of WotG expansions and give them out.
<Mierin> But it is still in the discussion stages.
<Fallso> Ah I see
<Mierin> Taj is in idiot

Their way of "dealing" is calling a scam artist a douchepipe, if you don't like it, tough, the words were said, deal.Originally Posted by ringthree
Uh, they spent nearly $2k out of a $9k total on shitty t-shirts and mouse mats to give away?
Wow.
Scamming implies some sort of intent. Care to elaborate?Originally Posted by Ryko
