That would suck if Taj transfered there then, he's have to change his name. (._.)

When a GM makes you change your name (because its offensive or whatnot), when does that option pop up for you? When you next log in? Immediately in some little game window? Is it possible to get that option to become available for you on your own terms (tajstyle)?

I guess all of you are OK with Taj being able to hack your real-life toon, because you can't currently conceive of any situation where you might disagree with him over any minor, trivial thing.

I'd be more content to pass this off as LOLpasswordsecurity, but according to the BG admins, Taj Most Definitely Did Not get divisor's password from BG, so then WTF does it matter if his BG/gmail/paypal passwords were the same? If BG admins are correct, Taj directly hacked either divisor's gmail password or his Paypal password. That alone should be enough for serious concern, regardless of whether or not his other accounts were properly secured.

It's a bigger sin because Divisortheory contributed at least $1600 to the Keep Wu Ping Fucking With Your Pastime fund, and even if everyone's worst fears about Taj are true, all it does is fuck with your ability to freely speak your mind on one forum about said pastime. Guess which one I care more about being fucked with?

Except... Taj doesn't give a shit about gilbuyers. He's friends with one. The whole thing was a childish personal assault. Say "battaj" all you want, but he's not like that. This wasn't for "justice" if one of his friends defending him here on the very thread is a gilbuyer.

You all say "hacked" like he's fucking Zero Cool and he hacked the fucking gibson. He probley didn't "hack" anything. God damn go research the top 10 ways people get into other people's accounts and you'll see "hacking" isn't even on that list.

It's the apparent hypocrisy (between DT's prior anti-gilbuying stances and "standing in the ffxiclopedia community") that makes it funny, the sweet sweet anti-gilbuying slant just makes it extra yummy.

There's a difference between spending like $20 on 100k, and spending over three grand on a shitton of gil. If you think his only purchases were the ones I posted, you're seriously deluding yourself.

How is that really relevant? I'm not saying what Taj did was fine because of his motives for doing it, I'm saying I care more about what DVT did because it effects something I care more about. If Ashira bought gil on the same scale as DVT, she's a jackass for it too.

This is pretty off for a couple of reasons:

    1) Three years ago, the RMT on the servers weren't so ridiculously invasive as they are now, so even though we know the result of where that money went now (thereby fueling even greater animosity for RMT), people weren't really aware of RMT would become back then. The extent of RMT invasiveness was pretty much fish botters, and we bitched and moaned about all of the mysterious bots in Sarutabaruta etc, but they weren't stealing our Despots so the degree to which they impacted players was pretty minimal at the time and only the anti-cheating vigilantes really cared.

That's pretty much how it started on my server. Then the lower level NM perma-campers started showing up and the notion of the chinese gil farmer started to become really well defined, until it evolved to where it is today. I don't know about everyone else here but back when it was just fish botters fueling the RMT economy, I didn't care too much about it. But given how different the picture is these days, it's not really fair to hold the anti-RMT standard we have today against the anti-RMT standard that was present back then when RMT wasn't nearly as invasive into the gaming experience for everyone.

    2) Pay pal are usually linked directly to your other payment accounts, so hacking into someone's paypal account is extremely dangerous for the victim since the attacker could theoretically buy anything with that paypal account. There's probably some types of insurance and resolution you could follow if you're lucky, but it's a hell of a lot worse than someone buying gil.

    Oh lord.

I would also like to point out that Taj did not hack any PayPal accounts. The screenshots are of receipts sent to email accounts by PayPal. Before I get the "hacking email is no better" lecture, I'll just bring up the whole 'spin' thing and say that it just fell to PayPal because it sounds worse and that's how people would like it painted. Still not defending the actions. As it turns out I don't even need to defend him.
