Has *anyone* had luck with using Fafnir as a base mob, yet? I guess people will just have to settle for Behemoth or Aspido for now.

Yeah. It's basically how much capacity the mob has for adding skills to it. So naturally, you'd want to capture one that started with FP:30 than FP:8.

Each of the abilities associated with the captured monsters has some sort of FP cost value associated with them, although I don't think anyone has posted what they are yet, if anyone knows.
I don't think the FP: <number> on the soulplate indicates how many FPs your captured mob has, I think it's the number of points it takes to teach that ability. I taught my FP: 8 torama a 47 FP ability, so that's where I'm drawing my conclusions from.
considering every single demon killer on this thread had FP:8 I think you're right.
    From the Patch Notes:
The FP requirements for feral skills can be confirmed by trading a soul plate to a reflector forger, while a monster’s FP capacity can be confirmed by trading a soul reflector.

So yes, that is the cost to learn the ability. Until your soul plate is approved to become an Official Soul Reflector, you will not know the FP of the monster you have caught. Once you have obtained and presumably named your monster, you can then check its FP at the forger. Thats how I'm reading it.

In other words his "FP:8 Torama" was a Torama with at least 47 FP (He probably should have checked before teaching the ability). Had he used the Torama plate to power up a different reflector with the ability on the torama, it would have cost the recipient monster 8FP.

So anyone who gets a Adamantoise with +15% Damage Red. (for example) should not waste it on creating a Pit Pet, but instead use it to power up a different one (ideally in Bagels case, turn his Adamantoise into a pet and use a different adamantoise with +15% Damage Red. to power up the one that was only good for a lol ability.

Of course, that last part was all assumption, since I'm not assuming the pet automatically gets the ability printed on it. Also, theres the complication of the monster getting rejected as a reflector, in which case its only useful as power up item.

How do we skill the guy up so he can take higher level mobs? Just by making him make lower level ones?

So wait, how many FPs can you spend per mob? I see all those FP30~70 abilities but no mention of caps or inability to teach something something.

Also, is there a way you can replenish your camera without chucking it and buying a new one?

Just did that, exactly how it works. One odd thing is that my coeurl has a resist poison trait along side lizard killer, was resist poison ever a confirmed trait for coeurls?

Dunno if this is obvious or has been covered already, but it seems lower level mobs start out with a lower levels in the Pit. A coeurl from Meriphataud was level 3, and a torama from Onzozo started at level 8.

EDIT: Trade your official soul reflector to the soul forger... dude, he tells you what job traits your pet has and how many FP it's at (mine's currently at 47/59).

Re: The catch em all thread...

Do mobs start with the ability that was on their plate when you turned them into a reflector? Like, would the Fafnir with the FP:70 ability start with that (assuming someone finally successfully turned it into a reflector)?

Re: The catch em all thread...

Registered my buffalo, level 9 PLD, 0/49 FP. I'm wondering if I should teach it my STR+25 and Crit+10% making it 47/49. High HP, high DEF, hits like a truck? Sounds good.

OR I can sell those stats in a bazaar or something for monay. =(

Re: The catch em all thread...

Seems like all the Feral Skills have a Tier System with a Set Point Costs depending on how powerful the Traits are. Here's a small list with some speculation and confirmed Results.

    FP: 8
Killer Effects (Demon, Dragon, Aquan, Lizard, Beast Confirmed)
Elemental Resistance +2 (Earth, Dark Confirmed)

    FP: 17
Stats +25 (STR, INT, AGI Confirmed)
    Elemental Attack Bonus (Earth Confirmed)
Bard Scrolls (Possible Spells scrolls for all Jobs?)

    FP: 23
    Accuracy +15%
    Attack +15%
    Aspir Attack
    Gravity Attack

    FP: 30
    Silencing Attack
    Spell Interruption Rate Bonus
    Breath Damage Resistance +15%
    Double Attack Rate +15%

    47:
    Triple Attack Rate +15%

    FP: 58
    Auto Regain +3

    FP: 70
    Terrorizing Attack

Lets collect more information on FP Costs and the Skills they allow so we can try and paste together a chart on all skills and FP Costs.

It seems like they start with the abilities that are on their plates, but their "natural" abilities don't take points. Lizard killer is an 8 point ability, but my coeurl is sitting at 47/59, and all 47 points are from triple attack+15% at the moment.

My coeurl also came with resist poison, but it seems like that's not taking any FP either.

You need to trade the Soul Plate and an Ice Crystal to the guy for a Soul Reflector. Then, you can trade the Soul Reflector to him and he'll tell you what it's FP capacity is, what Feral Skills it already has, it's Temperment, etc.
