From what I understand Elementals can only be caught for their abilities, and not used as pets. I have been looking for a decent starter mob to produce a strong black mage pet. I first tried out Soulflayers, which provide some nice buffs such as MAB+15% and INT+25, however they cannot be used as pets. Tomorrow I am going to try out the puddings in Mount Zhayolm and see how good of BLM pets they turn out to be. The corses in Attowa Chasm turned out to be Dark Knights, and the only ability I could get from them was Arcana Killer, which I don't see as being all that useful. Not to mention they only have 7 FP to start with, they are quite useless. Has anyone found any strong black mage types yet?

I do believe though, that it only read "Magic Attack Bonus" and no +X or +X%.

I got Auto Refresh +5 from Lamie Bellydancer. That's the one on the way to the Astral Candescence BC.

According to the wiki ( http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Feral_Skills ) BLM subjob comes from: Demon Wizard in Xarcabard and Poroggo in Mamook, and RDM subjob comes from Ten of Coins in Outer Horutoto Ruins.

You can get main job, sub job, and job traits off almost every low level beastman of a particular job. You can get every type of magic scrolls from lesser colibri (white, black, bard, ninjutsu).

I do believe traits like "Magic Attack Bonus", "Defense Bonus" and "Attack Bonus" "level up" as you gain exp or something. So MAB will get stronger.

I haven't used any of those specifically yet, but Killer effects, Store TP, and a one other was going up a level every fight or two. They say "(level 7)" in quotes after them in the NPC's dialog.

OP, Auto Refresh +5 comes from LamIE Bellydancer, not LamIA. It's an important distinction. (Lamie only appear after the Tidal Gate.)

A job's plate (main, sub) can be received from any beastmen with that job I think. I was spamming goblins in Oldton, and all I would get are job and sub job plates.

we're weak now , but buff it up and i bet casters overtake melee later.
