the CNN lady said he was a Sergeant. I don't know much about Police rankings; is that pretty high or no?

Apparently he's been in the force for about 15-20 years (I heard or read this somewhere), so he's most likely in his 40's.Originally Posted by Daahan
Maybe not that exactly, but I'm with you on the idea that he's not on the up-and-up. 2am, random parking lot, camera installed in your car? This all adds up to something a little less than trustworthy.Originally Posted by Chezo
If I left my cell phone at a friend's place, I'd just drive to their house... I mean, there could be extenuating circumstances (Friend works late, takes the us to work, etc etc) but it does sound fishy.
Really seems like he went out looking for a cop to embarrass. Lucky him he got the crazy one.
No matter what the kid did, the cop was out of line. He tried to pin stuff the kid didn't do on him. That's way out of fucking line. If the kid did something wrong, bust him for THAT. He's not Al fucking Capone. You don't need to bust him for tax evasion to get him canned.Originally Posted by Feielle

oh wait...
He was without a doubt in my mind, buying drugs. lol. Yeah my friend was meeting me in a parking lot at 2am cause he has my cell phone.
I doubt that. There's much better places for that than a commuter lot.Originally Posted by Anyway
Sergeant is REALLY low on the pecking order for cops, but I guess in such a remote part of the US they just promote themselves whenever they've reached X years of service on the force. But you'd think someone on the force for 20 years would at least have made lieutenant.Originally Posted by Norelco

my guess is that he was trying to bait a cop cause he's had bad experiences in the past with them and was just hoping for this to happen. He probably was driving around suspicious before the tape started. but, that still doesn't excuse the cops behavior even if he did fall for the bait.
I also think this is what happened. It just seems a little too much like a set up but either way the police officer shouldn't have lost his temper. Cops that go on a power trip are annoying so its nice to see something like this happen.Originally Posted by Skyylya
If you read the info that comes with the video on YouTube it says the officer was with the department for 2 years.
I hate youtube justice, but the cop did behave in a manner that he shouldnt have.
Bait the cop? Just like the police have speed traps or bait citizens? Yeah sounds totally out of line. ::rolls eyes::
Like said before, kid could have been buying drugs, doesn't excuse the cops reaction. I've been caught with my friends who were high/had paraphernalia on them (I hung out with stoners, never tried the stuff myself) and cops didn't act anywhere NEAR that way. Worst case scenario they got a slap on the wrist or something. Maybe the cop thought he'd captured the mobile meth lab they've been hunting for 5 yearS?
Even if he was trying to bait something, he didn't expect that much.
