Makes me glad I'm sticking with DSL.
They installed my cable same day at both my houses. Always have had all problems fixed within 24hrs or less. Never had an outage last longer then 2-3hrs. Only one serious outage but that was during some bad storms, and was understandable.
Bad service seems to depend on the location. Id recommend comcast over the DSL service here in town any day. I wouldn't dismiss the whole company over one or two shitty employees and their installation, or murder 8D.
You guys do realize that comcast outsources about half of it's installers from other companies right?
Yeah, I read the article too...Originally Posted by Demosthenes

I've had hit and miss service with Comcast. At my last apartment it was great, prompt service and the complex had a deal with them on rates.
Fast forward, I move into a house and comcast is nothing but crap, outages all the time. If it'd spit a rain drop we'd be out of not only internet but cable too and it would last for hours. My one roommate ran cable for a living and tested the connection and found that coming from their demark at the road had errors and was probably cut or something along those lines. We ran our own line above ground from the demark to the house and all issues went away. It took Comcast 6 months calling two times a week and nasty letters sent to them to finally come out. We couldnt get our OnDemand to work during this and DVR was sketchy since the programming would just go in and out and wouldn't record all the time. They wouldn't prorate our bill nor do anything. Leaving a bad taste in my mouth with them.
I move to a new house and everything is fine with them. Different area / zip codes in all three examples and all three different experiences. On the whole though, it has been and always will be CrapCast to me.
Comcast absolutely owns any DSL service in my area. Never a problem.

I don't have a good situation with my Verizon DSL here, so not going to say much bad about Comcast, I'm actually kinda interested in it since I see all the ads and don't like this DSL.
My connection is completely up and down depending on...variables I don't quite get yet. Sometimes my connection is fine, everything loads pretty quick, other times I disconnect every hour or two and then other times I can't even connect to websites, although I'm still connected to FFXI and my torrents are downloading. This happened a few months ago so we replaced the router, fixed things for a little bit (so it seemed) but now things are back. It's not any single computers fault since we all experience it, we've put the router in a cooler spot so it's not overheating. It's not from the connection being too busy as it happens when I'm the only one awake in the house. I call Verizon and they tell me to clear my browser cache and shit, I have no idea how my browser is the problem for an entire households connection to be messed up...ok so I just needed to rant about my ISP, anyway...
If Comcast is "bad" then what is a good ISP?
wow rofl i read that article and it reminded me of what the first comcast guy did when he came here.... we pointed him to the cable box where we were getting our cable from (in the laundry room) and asked him if he could put the wire through the wall into our basement office... "NOPE cant do that.... not my job" we were like uh so whos supposed to do it? "i dont know not my job not my problem" connected one part of his cable to the cable box threw about 40 feet of cable and then ran it through the laundry room door to the office and put down the internet box and "installed" it lol.... meh internet is pretty good decently fast (faster than most peoples i know around here) but yeah if comcast is a bad isp then whos good?

I was having problems with my signal on the modem and they fixed it within a business day, no trouble whatsoever. The comcast service here is fine.
I wouldn't use comcast if it wasn't like the only thing offered in my area at a decent speed. We've had a lot of outage issues that last well over 24 hours sometimes, they will double bill me and take 2x as much payment as they should causing me to have to print out mys tatement and go down to their office to get it corrected instead of doing it over the phone. and they're reps here in tallahassee just suck anyway. completely unreasonable on the phone if you can actually get ahold of someone through their lousy automated phone thing.
Given the choice of another cable company i'd never use comcast again.
The local techs are really good her, the phone support always blows though.
Do you own Comcast stock or something? Christ, grow a sense of humor, it's just a little bit of bad Comcast press for laughs. Don't get butthurt over a little smilie.Originally Posted by Demosthenes
