    Need some Battlefield 2 help

For some reason whenever I start to load a map the game will just exit completely. I never had a problem like this whenever I had it installed the first time. My computer specs are Pentium 4 2.00 GHz, 1.99 GHz, 768 MB of RAM. All my drivers are up to date and I'm drawing a blank to where this problem is coming from. Hopefully some of you out there play this and have the same problem

    All help is appreciated.

P.S. I know my banks are uneven but I'm working on that.

What type of video card are you using? Using XP or Vista? More details prz.

Also, 2Ghz/768MB Ram is just above the minimum specs for BF2 and well below the recommended specs to run the game (which in my expierence are more like minimum to run at decent settings). Sounds your problem just might be an old computer.

Sorry. It's on XP and I'm using a nVidia GeForce 6 series I believe. The problem could just be not enough RAM, because I've run it on my computer before, excpet now my brother hijacked one of my ram sticks so I got stuck with a 512 and 256 instead of probably two 512's before. I've been planning on getting two 1 gig sticks here soon, so I'll get back on this once I try those.

problem is most likely that BF2 itself is buggy with lots of CTDs >.> TRy deleting the my documents > my games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\gibberishfolders

uhh... I wouldnt recommend it, it has default configs.. although. deleting the profile configs and the cache should help with some CTDs, but you'd have change your settings back..

Also, if anyone is reading this that just plays bf2 in general, deleting those gibberish folders is the shaders, and the more folders there are = the longer it takes to load them. it indirectly decreases loading time. I recommend wiping the cache every time you change video settings since BF2 takes 43975983754938 years to load for most people

Also, the directory you're looking for with the cache is

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\cache\

folders that are safe to delete are anything with { and } with a bunch of gibberish numbers that dont seem to mean anything. There shouldnt be anything else in there.

Deleting the 0001 and 000x folders are the profiles. like I said.. you'd have to redo your settings if you deleted them as well as retrieve your account again. Be warned.

also if this post was total crap to you, it's 1 am and im sleepy
