Thinking about getting an antlion but no idea what types of skills they can give. Anyone have any experience with those?

Good question, I wonder if they're capable of getting an innate Attack Speed Bonus or Auto-Regen/Regain, too.
Seems doubtful as their FP is low and arn't a super omgwtf mob like Tauri.Originally Posted by Khamsin
My skeleton had 33 FP and started with auto-regain. I think some abilities are not limited to family. A chigoe can start with auto-regain even though they have no tp moves.Originally Posted by Not Kuno
In any case, Antlions should aim for high single hit damage since they open with Pit Ambush.Originally Posted by Not Kuno
In all my bajillion of crabs never have I gotten anything special like that. The only traits that were not from plates were resist _______ (sleep, grav, bind, petrfy etc etc) and max hp +15%, max mp +15%. I turned in a very large amount and I never got anything that wasn't that. So yeah I don't believe any monster can get any trait.Originally Posted by rath
That's what I was going for but I want to know if they start with stuff like Attack Bonus or Strength Bonus (not the +25 one) or something else that is good that can save some FP.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
I have an Auto Regain crab. HP/MP +15%, Auto Regen, Auto Regain, and (random?) resist traits share the pool for the second innate slot, ie the one not determined by your plate.
I never saw Regen or Regain and I turned in somewhere over 300 although I stopped counting so maybe more.
You were just really unlucky :\ I understand it may be hard to believe in light of that, so pics:

I never noticed how different the npc text-color between my 2 characters was xd
What type of crab did you get it from?
Maybe not all monsters give innates but some do? All of mine were on Big Claws or something; the gray ones outside Sacrarium.
Bloody Coffin for the crab, none of the other plates I took of him inherited a secondary pool innate and the primary innates were shitty at best. The skeleton was just some random dude out in Mire. From my own capturing and other's posting of getting secondary innates I really believe any mob can get them, the good ones are simply rare.

I guess this debunks the "6 skills max" theory.
I saw something on otherwiki which suggests that it's a 5 added skills cap, rather than 6 skills.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Actually the pet in the ss has 2 innate abilities: Auto Regain & Amorph Killer. This is easily concluded by the other traits and adding up their FP totals which would make up the 72 FP used. So the "5 Trait additions Max" stands.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I'll test that out after Dynamis, taking the HP off anyway.
Not that, I meant the quoted theory that only 6 skills, including any and all innates, were allowed.Originally Posted by Myou
Would've changed it, but I had no idea where I had posted it, nor any idea that anyone read it and cared.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I bought the first cheap low count FP plates I found in bazaar.

2 innate, 5 added, can't add a sixth with plenty leftover FP.
Speaking of innate abilities, I wonder how a mob with innate ____ing Attack would do. Those can get pretty expensive, as well. Do any pankration-usable mobs have enspells? If so, could be good to get one of those innate, too.
Rams give Enpetrify I think. I think Chigoes have enplauge + enpoison.Originally Posted by Khamsin
