Nin/Drk souleater gears

This is more out of curiosity since my nin languishes sadly while my Blm does endgame, but anyways...

I'm wondering if nin/drk can actually make good use of souleater for DD purposes.

The setup i'm looking at is:

Head: Turban
Body: AF
Hands: Skote
Neck: Specs
Legs: Koga (byakkos for acc?)
Feet: Fumas
Waist: Swift belt
Ear1: Minuet (no brutal )
Ear2: Suppa
Ring1: Rajas or jaeger
Ring2: Bomb Queen
Ammo: Bomb core or Noz shuriken
Back: HB mantle (no gigant, can swap with amemet +1)

I'm not looking for OMGWTFBBQ damage, I'm just interested in whether this would be worthwhile.

What are you using it for? We tried it on JoL once because one of our NINs wanted to try and didn't do too bad on parse actually. Gonna try to find if that parse was posted on our forums anywhere, doubt it though.

I've heard of some NINs using it to generate some quick hate back once unweakened when healers were ok on MP. I've never tried it personally.

Go with the Koga legs over Byakko's probably for the extra HP on them.

Sucks for DD purpose, unless you got a dedicated mage curebombing you. Only use it to get hate back after a roar from Wyrms maybe.

Thats probably what I'd be using it for, I don't do alot of tanking, and I can probably argue that this is as useful as me pressing blizzard 4 for 45 mins :D

Works well with a pld cotank. You can crank out maybe 500 dmg when a wyrm lands for some nice hate and have the pld cure you.

only time ive ever seen nin.drk even use soul eater on HNM's is to get quick hate at the beggining, i dont think it would be good use for actually trying to deal damage

Nin pisses it off, Pld curebombs him, they both come out ahead.

^ That's what I use for nin/drk souleater.

It's actually pretty close to what you use. I hit Cerb/Tia for about 100 or more per hit, and it's great for getting quick hate after roar or something. Usually do it just for fun, def not every 6 mins, only when whms have some extra mp.

Using Souleater on NIN/DRK has 2 main functions: DD and rapid hate regeneration.

Depending on what you're fighting you may not be the most effective DD but it still generates a lot of hate.

As Beckwin said, it can work out rather nicely to give a PLD co-tank something to cure which is essential to them maintaining hate as well as giveing the NIN a large hate boost as well. However I would not reccomend relying on PLD cure only so always make sure to alert your WHMs so they can drop some cure bombs on you as well. In my experience, Souleater will use up around ~600 mp in CureV bombs from an averagely geared WHM/BLM if that WHM is the sole source of curing.

It's a really nice tool to DD while generating enmity, just make sure that before you use it your mages/co-tanks are ready to support you and you should be fine.

Not sure why anyone would say this wouldn't be good DD. I used to go #1 dmg on dynamis lord using Nin/Drk with a guy cure bombing me.

The only difference between Nin/Drk souleater and Drk with KC is that the Drk gets blood weapon to make it easier on the healers. In terms of raw damage the Drk will lead by a bit at the end of the SoulEater time period, but Mijin in all that HP gear takes you back up close to them(SV march = crazy number of hits on DL).

People really underestimate this job combination. It's one of the most versatile you can get. You can be an exceptional tank or hit a macro and be insane dmg. I used to have a 75 whm second account and was able to cure bomb myself while using this. The real benefit is on something like JoL you can be repeatable and reliable insanely high damage every couple of minutes.

Dealing 500DMG on ground is not worth the risk to lose hate when your SAMs, DRKs, MNKs, THFs can do 2-3 times that much with one single WS. But everyone how he likes it. We are using triple tanking with full attack on ground often as well.

i only use it to generate hate--- for that purpose it works well.

for dd purposes i suspose it could be nice, but overall- I think there may be more effective ways to DD the mob than w/ a nin/drk souleater.

For hate tho- it works very nice.

I dont realy like /DRK on wyrms. /RDM has imo more hate gain the /DRK in the long run.

on stuff like fafhogg /DRK comes out high, since you can pull hate at start and noone will get it off you for a whole fight (well it feels like that anyway)

On things that are stunnable, /DRK will always be the better choice.
