    Re: Einherjar: Valgrind (Odin's Chamber)

    A few notes:

    - it's not "half an hour", not for us anyway. It's 40 to 60 minutes of preparation because we have to wait on people, wait on bots who didn't log out in Hazlham, wait on 72 hr re-entry thing, so in the end it often ends up taking close to 90 minutes. Mind you this applies to almost everything in FFXI, but few events have their actual duration end up being *triple* their "official" duration. Kind of a bummer too, because a "30 minute event" sounds really nice -o-

    - as someone said, once you get the hang of it, you literally breeze through the chambers. After beating him earlier this month, we've started getting clears for Odin again, and we went 3/3 on tier I and 3/3 on tier II. I'm expecting maybe ~1 wipe on tier III since you have a lot more mobs to kill and some of the bosses are harder. The only thing that can really slow do your progress is having to do reflags because people missed a previous run, which brings us to...

    - I realize it's kind of a retarded "solution", but compared to our first run through, this time we're making extra efforts to bot anyone who can't come and it seems to be really paying off. At first my reaction was to say "what's the point of always botting people? They'll never be able to make any run". This is true if someone always has <insert thing to do> on the days you have Einherjar scheduled, but I've noticed that there are also lots of people who can't make specific, isolated runs. Someone might miss a run because they're going to a football game but they're there the next run; someone who was at that first run misses the next one because they're going to a family dinner, etc. If you didn't bot the guy who went to his football game the first week, you're now out 2 members (football guy can't enter, family dinner guy is botted so you can't really count him). So if you don't make the effort to bot people, you'll start out with a high number and you'll lose people here and there, and by the time you get ready to move to a new tier or to Odin you won't have enough manpower to guarantee a win. This is where the "re-flags" start and you waste a ton of time. If you do make the effort to bot them, then you keep the high numbers til the end and you just breeze through the chambers. Then all you have to do is to schedule Odin himself at a particular time where the most people can be there.

Of course some people don't feel comfortable sharing their account info (which is understandable), so as I said it's a bit dumb and it shows that it's not very well designed. Nevertheless I figured I'd mention it since it's worked really well for us . Another possible solution (for those short on numbers) would be a team up with another LS, although both linkshells would have to be a) dedicated, so you don't lose too many people along the way and b) small, otherwise you'll be forced to make people sit out from the beginning.

    Re: Einherjar: Valgrind (Odin's Chamber)

How many times do I have to say it.

    Einherjar ISN'T Salvage
    Einherjar ISN'T Limbus
    Einherjar ISN'T Dynamis
    Einherjar ISN'T Kings

It's just another way to get armor (hopefully not your ONLY way Bercus). If you can fit it into your busy scedule, Do It! (we do). It's not as hard as many think. And there are solutions arround many problems, whether you like them or not.
i.e. you have a pressing engagement, having a friend log you in.
i.e. you linkshell is too small, team up with another small linkshell.

It's workable! The fact that Kings gear is 3 years old blah blah and that Salvage has better gears blah blah is all irrelevant. Because! Einherjar is just another way to get Gears!!!!!! If YOU can't make it work, that doesn't make it bad for everyone. Please try and wrap your brain arround that concept.

How is it ok that you either need to have another linkshell cooperating with you or you need to give out your account info to clear everything? That in itself is retardedly ridiculous. And no matter how you shape it, it IS some linkshell's only legitimate shot at king gear.

If einherjar doesn't need adjustment then I guess ffxi doesn't either

If you LS is unwilling to team up, or you have absolutely no friends that you think you can trust. Then maybe Einherjar isn't for you? You can't do it....

Does that make it bad? No!

I think that sums up the point I was trying to prove. That and the fact that Einherjar isn't supposed to be like assault, limbus, dynamis, or any other event. It's just another way to get gear.

I just think people blow most of its conditions way out of proportion. It's a lot more workable than you think. I think the people who have done it consistently have the best perspective on that.
A skill-less bum-rush of 2 alliances attempting to burn through a bunch of weak monsters to get at an equally skill-less burn of a boss at the end isn't a very good idea for an event. Abj rate for us so far is.... 1. That's it. We've been doing it and winning it since it came out too. Its unfortunate because while we have never had problems getting through T1s, T2s and farther are going to be just about impossible since we don't have many people.

If you team up, then all the extra people go byebye and can't get cleared for Odin. That, is a stupid system. The rewards are awful at best, and the time spent to get to the final fight is retardedly high for such a huge risk.

A win from Dynamis Xarc with 64 yields the same damn crap as a win from Dynamis Xarc with 18. Einherjar isn't like that. You have no variability. Its not hard, its just retarded because you can only win with very specific setups. There's no ability to switch out jobs and add some interesting combos, its BLM burn T2 and 3 or lose. There's no variability in numbers either. T1s bring 20+ or you lose. T2 and T3 bring 26+ or lose. Odin is the same way. For a shell with maybe 1 full alliance showing up to anything on a good day, this is bullshit because we literally CAN'T do something because of our numbers. What other event literally CAN'T be done because of a lack of mass-bodies? None.

Are you describing Einherjar? Or was it Salvage? Or was it every other event in this fucking game?

If you don't like how the game is designed, go play something else. Q_q we don't have enough people pew pew. Otherwise, quit your crying and get over it.

If you don't have the numbers, that is your problem. . . There ARE solutions if you open your eyes and look for them rather than wallowing in your self-pity.

    Re: Einherjar: Valgrind (Odin's Chamber)

Ramuh end game can be way overcrowded, but sometimes it's really not. I watched Nidhogg pop yesterday around noon and be unclaimed for a good 10 seconds, actually agro someone and start to walk around. 60 people in the zone. I know it was noon and all, but yeah. Granted, prime time DA can see up to 200, I agree I guess.

i think what alot of people spoke on is true. I can only speak for our linkshell and the experiences we have had. I think it's got a lot to do with the commitment to be there every single time. Dynamis, you miss a run no big deal. You can catch the clear next time around, you don't lose that key item. 28 people waiting @ testing grounds who have been for 30 minutes while 4 people are in whitegate waiting on the boat gets old as well.

In the beginning we started with the mindset to do this 2x a week. When you combine everything else an ls does, it does add alot to squeeze into the schedule whether the even itself takes 30 minutes or 3 hours. Dynamis, Limbus, Sea, unplanned HNM, and god knows what else, scheduling can sometime pose a conflict and not everyone has as much time as the next person to sit on FFXI. The clearance portion is a BIG part of it. If our linkshell only had to do 15 runs to get to Odin, we would have been done as well. But until recently, we have been doing T1 over and over and over and over, with a few T2 tossed in. Just recently, I decided it was time to move on and made a stance that we we're going through all 3 T1 one more time and we would not be coming back til after Odin. We recently finished that process and are moving on, but there are still people who lack all 3 T1 clearances. To which at this point I just had to look @ them and say "I'm Sorry"... Happened last night, so yeah...

As for the money thing, it should be ls funded anyways like Palin said, ours is and has been since it was released. As for the drop rates, it sucks, bad... I think people have close to like 8000 or more ampoule thingies (mind you this is pretty much ALL from T1 clears), and we have seen one abj. From our very first run, like less than a week after it was released, we got D Feet. It was awesome...

I think it just boils down to it being another one of those events you have to constantly rely on people to be in attendance, which sometimes is not always the case. Since we have buckled down and I made it known we're moving forward attendance has been a little better. I think we have maybe 36'ish clearance through T1 and I'm sure we will end up losing a few of those through T2 and T3, but there's not much you can do about people not being online etc... Not many people are going to just give you there account info for you to log onto them for clearance or w/e.

Anyways, coming from the same server, I see alot of the same shit you are talking about. Being competitive linkshells I understand alot of what you are saying. Congrats to you guys and hopefully with our plans goign through we to should be there soon. Grats again.

So just because I don't want to see another LS get Odin drops, or because I don't want someone jacking my account Einherjar isn't for me?

I don't see how anyone can say it doesn't need adjustments, unless you have a huge LS that has no RL priorities and can be at every run.

    Lol @ recruiting for Einherjar.

Easy? Where have I said anything about changing the difficulty of Einherjar. I just want it to be made so that if I miss even just one win, I'm not completely screwed for the rest of the way towards Odin.

See, here's the problem: Lets say you're the only person who misses the last win needed for Tier 1, and the LS progresses and goes and does Tier 2 and Tier 3. Since you need just that last win, you can't do any of the others.

If they made that from the start you can access any chamber, this wouldn't be a problem. You could get all of the Tier 2 and 3 wins, and then go back and get the Tier 1 win again right before doing Odin.

And for the record, I did play WoW, and I got tired of the grind, so I'm back on this.

(Granted I'll give up the point that scheduling for 36 people will always be infinitely harder than scheduling for 12 or 18 but it pretty much goes back to the concept that im not really buying "sorry, half an hour 2 times a week is too much") Yeah sadly I view the "Why I cant"s as an excuse, but that's just me.
I'll agree that a 30 minute event isn't that large of a commitment, but at that same time that seems to be the largest flaw.

We have members who set aside time to make events, and when they show up they like to play for longer than 30 minutes. Half an hour into an event and my WHM doesn't even have a good buzz going yet for crying out loud...

With Einherjar, you have the added frustration of needing all the key items. This Sunday, my power went out during a Limbus run. I planned to be there, I wanted to be there, but it was just shitty luck. I lost my cleanse for that run, but I was still able to go to Proto-Ultima last night.

If Einherjar works for you and your LS, that's great, but we're quite happy without it.

There's a difference between playing with people you trust, versus playing with 35 extremely dedicated and skilled players you trust with a good setup of jobs, that can and will all show up at the same time two times a week for einherjar prepared and ready to go in a timely fashion.

    Re: Einherjar: Valgrind (Odin's Chamber)

Imagine if, every time you killed Dynamis Lord, you had to re-clear every Dynamis up to that point to gain access again.

Imagine if, every time you wanted to kill Cerberus, or EXP on Trolls, you had to find the Gate Key again.

This is the type of game play mechanics some of you are promoting, by saying nothing is wrong with Einherjar.

I don't get some people. The only type of people who would be against making the game more convenient, would be the type of people who are never inconvenienced by anything in this game.

Meaning, people with no lives who play 24/7. So if you have infinite or near infinite time to play, go ahead, but you need to realize you aren't the norm or standard.
So, how the game is designed shouldn't cater to you or your still-living-at-home LS.

Lastly this isn't directed at anyone, but if the shoe fits wear it.

    Re: Einherjar: Valgrind (Odin's Chamber)

my Idea of how things should drop in einherjar. have at least 1 abjuration drop 100% of the time when you clear a chamber, additonal there can drop 3 abjuration at a time. so 1-3 drops per clear depending on luck.

    Wing1:

    chamber1:
    D.feet
    E. legs
    H. head
    M. hands

    chamber2:
    D.head
    M.feet
    W. hands
    A. legs

    chamber 3:
    W. feet
    P. hands
    A. head
    H. Hands

    Wing 2

    Chamer1:
    D. legs
    P. feet
    W. Hands
    A. Hands

    Chamber2:
    N. feet
    E. head
    H. Feet
    W. legs

    Chamber3:
    M. Head
    D. Hands
    E. Feet
    N. hands

    Wing 3:

    Chamber1:
    W.legs
    D. Body
    N. Legs
    A. Feet

Additional: 5% drop chance for A.Body (will replace one of above droped abjurations.

    Chamber2:
    N. head
    H. Body
    P. head
    P. legs

Additional: 5% drop chance for E.body (will replace one of above droped abjurations.)

    Chamber3:
    N. Body
    E. hands
    W. head
    H. Legs

Additional: 5% drop chance for M. body or W.body (will replace one of above droped abjurations)

    Odins Chamber:
    M. Body
    A. Body
    W. Body
    E. Body

with this you can actually say goodbye to sky, ecxeption is if you want one of the God Gears.

to gain one of the Kings bodys you can either make 10 runs: 9 chambers + odin fight. Or you can attempt a Wing 3 chamber 20times and hope you get a king body abjuration to drop. This would give people a shot at body abjurations, but still keep them rare a bit (hence the 5% drop rate).

In this way I would actually attempt einherjar. since you can have a shot at every abjuration in the game. And make sky "worthless", which in my idea is long overdue since we are heading to the 4. expansion, and packing all endgame shit together is . I mean fuck it if I lvl a new job and need 2-3 pieces from sky.... sky is just boreing now, it has been there for 3+ years, let it be replaced by something else.
