My concern was damage, and it looks like the concern is founded as they would take a lot of damage and require a lot of support, and it could get annoying trying to proc certain %s.

I could have one WAR swap to SAM, his SAM has good gear but WAR is by far his best-geared job, and the THF could also swap to SAM and we'd lose Feint and placeboTH4, but it sounds like the main suggestion is to get people that missed wins into our next Odin, that would give us a RNG (The other 2 quit playing) and another SMN.

Our first Odin utilized 2 COR, 3 RNG, 2 SMN and 4-5 melee DDs and it was very easy, but it sounds like only having 2 COR, 1 SMN and 6 melee DDs isn't gonna cut it.
Our lowest Odin kill was 17 people and I think we had 1 WAR, 2 SAM and 2 RNG for that. Nothing else for damage besides those jobs, and they all sat on it full-time. I believe we won with around 5 minutes remaining, and could have won it a lot faster if not for a major mess handling adds. People overstate the amount of damage Odin puts out to melee; it's very constant, but it rarely spikes and it is very easy to heal through. All of our Odins tend to be with lower numbers, and we generally just stick some melee on him full-time (I will agree SAM/THF > all, melee-wise) and burn him down, with PLDs making use of Chiv once and a Vile to put out about 7-8K HP healed while tanking Odin and help the DD healer.

For reference, I think our DD set up was WHM/RDM/WAR/SAM/SAM/BRD - RNG/RNG/THF (with the BRD jumping parties) for the 17-man kill.

Thanks for your experiences, that's very helpful as well.

We've looked it over and changed people to give us a RNG and 3 SAM/THFs, and a backup RDM to kite Fomors in case the first one has a problem. I think with everyone paying attention we will be able to take him down, but we're still deciding if we want to attempt it the fun way or wait for more people to get in and do it the boring way.

    We ended up with a win, 19 people with 1SMN, 1RNG, 1COR, 2SAM/THF, 2WAR/SAM, 1DRG, 1SAM/WAR and minimal healing.

It honestly wasn't that bad, still had several minutes to spare, and the tank PT WHM dc'ed halfway through.

Of course drops were less than stellar >.> H.Head, P.Body, W.Head, but at least I know he's easily doable with that setup.

Don't do Odin without a thf, the 1 time we only got 3 drops out of 10 odins was the 1 time we didn't bring a thf (it was an earlier odin and we had 18 people). Have the thf sub /whm and help cure/erase a DD party if there is space, he can then back backup kiter incase your main kiter gets killed. With a few powder boots and a hermes for emergency on another player it removes any realistic chance of adds becoming a problem.

DD tanking Odin is a good option if you have a couple of well geared sams with PDT swaps (don't need MDT for Odin as his spells are weak). With 2 sams left on full time you won't have to find much damage elsewhere from rngs/smns or other DDs and Seigan works well against him.

If you ever go with less than 19 then 10k needles will start to become a real concern, especially to taru mages, and is really the biggest issue with smaller groups as you have to stop tping odin until everyone can cure up and erase to move away. We normally have all our whms sub smn over sch just to help soak it up.

Absolutely good advice, our damage was plenty and I wish I'd brought a THF but the advice here had me so scared about timing out I got all the THFs on other jobs.

This a million times. I prefer /NIN for SAMs though, they can literaly take no damage from Odin aside from AoEs, while still dishing out good numbers. Another option is /DRG and High Jumping before the X0% mark if they have hate.

We just use our THF as a collaborator whore in the RNG pty to keep them alive (and by them I mean me).

And of course the occasional ranged attack on Odin for TH purposes.

And strategy wise we just go with SMN & RNG partys for damage and never have any time or mp issues.

Pfft, you are hardly the only RNG that gets collaborator.

Apologies for the necro bump but I thought this was a slightly more detailed question and would attract more interest from the relevant leaders etc if it was in this rather than the random thread.

Which drops (aside from E body) have you found are most desired from Odin? If you could rate the top 5, what would they be?

    1 N legs
    2 N head
    3 Valk Fork
    4 A body
    5 Val Body

The N legs and N head are arguably the rarest pieces because its 1 drop slot and theres a alot of different abjurations in that slot. Because our linkshell isnt big on land hnms, theres a deficit there.

Valkrie fork just because we havent gotten many. Yesterday we got 3rd in 29 Odins, but its been more rare then the other odin gear

A Body prob next because havent gotten many. We get alot of p and h bodies. Yesterday we got 2 A Bodies though, before that we had gotten 3 off 28 odins. But saying that, after those 2 now, theres not a huge demand for them, since our linkshell does salvage alot and alot of people have morrigan robes

Valhalla Body to round it out. It hasnt been super rare for us, but we've gotten way more val helms than bodies.

This is fantastic and what I was looking for. Our loot distribution system for Odin has been a bit speculative until recently but now it's a realistic issue for us we're reviewing it.
