Haha, I asked if it was possible FFXI wiki people were profiting off the move in the last thread. Kinda weird personally, I put up a lot of the info in the bestiary, for nms, and blu spells among other things, and some guy is profiting off of it.

Maybe this is not the right place to ask, but for the BGwiki, will everything have to be reformatted and/or reworded? Or can we just take the stuff we already submitted to the old wiki and put it up on BG?

If you are the original author for something on the wiki and you copy it over and add it to the BGwiki yourself then it's not an issue.

I don't think there's any way the wiki people can dig their way out of this hole. So I'm thinking they realized it was a lost cause and decided not to dig themselves any deeper.

Either that or Wikia's corporate lawyers have advised them not to comment further. But as you said, what could they possibly say at this point that would help their cause?

First off, I didn't find out until tonight when an LS member mentioned this and there was a poll about it on KI's frontpage.

I read the original opening post and my comment is this:

• What was done by the owner of FFXI Wiki is both criminal and greedy. They played on the kindness and generosity of others for their own gain. It is both selfish and an outright slap in the face to the FFXI community. I would have them reported to the proper authorities that deal with fraud and deceit committed by a business entity.

Now, would I still visit FFXI Wiki? I don't know now. Before FFXI Wiki, there was FFXI Somepage and Alla, though I visit Somepage more often. Now, I might change my mind.

I pay it out of my own pocket, and, mind you, I only have 400 GB of bandwidth each month because it is shared hosting with Yahoo! Business. It would be a temporary solution until a full migration can be found elsewhere. However, I am willing to do that if no one would want to return to the FFXI Wiki (or FFXI Wikia) now after learning of this betrayal committed by the FFXI Wiki Admin staff.

It would be best to wait until BGWiki is finished. Right now they are going through and creating templates for each of their sections.
