Was here for 9 minutes. It wasn't lag, nobody popped lol. No NPCs. The doors wouldn't open, nor could i target them. Seriously, no clue how i got here. I just logged in here. luckily i was /blm, so i just warped out after i snapped some SS.

There's still an unused entrance to the Pit. This could be the way to the 5th cage, prossibly used for something along the lines of the Pankration tournament that rewards those trophy furnishings.

The Pit is a subsection of the Colosseum, SE isn't going to use the entire zone for it.

If I had to guess
this is the pvp arena. Something about players can battle others, like in ballista but together with your pet.

edit: where did you log out before you logged on? did you log off while ontop where those tubes are?

Introducing a player pvp arena similar to the pit would be cool, except for the fact if its only one arena would be stupid, cause if the queing process is the same as the pit... lol.

I'm more privy to say that this is the opening area to the Colosseum. The 6 booths are probably representative of betting windows. The upcoming Colosseum, hopefully released by WotG or before then, is a one-versus-one arena-style PvP fight, if I read it right when it was first announced. It would be similar to something more akin to the movie "The Gladiator" and probably without animals to mame and maul you to death. >_>;

It looked like when you logged out and logged back in, you lagged and were "transported" to that zone. I think it is similar to what SE did to Al Zahbi if it gets overcrowded where they will automatically transport you out of the zone due to overcrowding. I think you initiated something without knowing it and The Pit was overcrowded the moment you logged back in, thus being transported to The Colosseum automatically.

That's my thinking though.

That would be the main lobby area of the not yet opened PvP Colosseum. Its all in the same zone as the Pit. No idea how you'd end up there though. Horrendous lag + bad packets are a hell of a thing maybe lol.

Colosseum = FF version of WoW arena (and WoW arena is plaque'd w/class balancing issues, ect... Maybe the FF dev's realized this ahead of time and figured it would require too much PvP balancing to have teams of - 1v1, 2v2 to 5v5 - compete so they did away w/the idea)

Although it'd be cool if people could put their pit monsters there. I do remember hearing about pre-ToAU release, but it may not have been anything major (that we can look back at and make good guesses) or it may have been me or the person reporting it misinterpreting Besieged.

To the above: They (sorta) mentioned that the Pit and Colosseum are separate (except they share the same zone), so the fall of one wouldn't bring about the other.

I'd still want them to bring back The Colosseum. It is one of the things I've been looking forward to, and still do.

I think in the more recent E3 interview, they stated that it wasn't canceled but may be released after WotG is released when they'll go back to the old areas and add fixes or updates, and possible introduce this. I don't remember the entire interview anymore unless I did it up. But, I would love to see this introduced hopefully.

Content creation does not work that. The pit isn't some compromise activity brought about by some kind of inability to finish the Colosseum. They are separate things that have been planned since ToAU's release. The interview they talked about it is here:

Editor: What is happening with the development of the Pit and Colosseum?

Ogawa: The plan for the Pit is complete but the staff is working on so much that we can't find a free hand to work on it (lol). We plan to implement it this year so you can look foward to that. As for the Colosseum, that's on hold.

It will be released at some point, just not before the end of this year. Maybe they are just postponing it in order for it to comply with all the new jobs/job balancing that are coming in WoG.
