I didnt understand going with an AMD based system, when Intel's processors at the power user level, are better than anything out there currently.

And the dual 8800 Ultra's in SLI... orz No idea what you are gonna be doing that will require that much power. Total overkill since a single Ultra will basically max out any game that is currently out there. And furthermore, the games that are on the horizon that will be true DirectX 10 games, well you mind as well just wait for the NVIDIA 9 series video cards to come out, which are I believe maybe a year away.

And the 9 series video cards from nvidia supposedly are going to be measured in teraflops, and be somewhere around 2-3x as powerful as the 8800 GTX... Which is nuts.

The reason I went hi-end on my computer was that I will never need to buy a new computer ever. well atleast not a whole computer, yea the price sounds expensive but you guys dont know the exact prices, My tv for one, was only 1500$, Each of my 8800 ultras were 670$ To my knowledge those were the cheapest Ultra's I could find on Tigerdirect,

As far as the PC is concerned though, you spent 199$+ on a cpu that wont' run better than a 180-200 dollar core 2 duo, over 1k on 2 GPU's on SLI that won't improve your visuals any better than just running one of those cards, ended up buying an overpriced ultra x-pro PSU[269$] (I could have bought the 1600Watt version lol but I knew that was dumb) I only bought the psu to cover all my energy needs) to cover the extra wattage from the 2nd GPU, 500 dollars for a case.... and then buy 800mhz ram? and not even spring the extra money for a ddr3 MOBO and ddr3 ram?

[b]Yes, I only looked at the 15000rpm and the price I figured such a new mobo would be compatible, one of few things I overlooked I guess That motherboard is only SATA and PAPA, no SCSI.

Send the SCSI drive back and get a .WD Raptor Near SCSI speed (you will never notice a difference with only one drive), no need for a dedicated controller card for one HDD, and double the storage space. Most importantly no constant whining. SCSI drives spin continuously, it's part of the reason why they're so damn fast when it comes to I/O. You don't want that sitting next to you for extended gaming sessions though, 15K SCSI drives are rather annoying. Sexy as hell for servers or a workstation with heavy I/O needs, wasted money and unnecessary noise in a gaming desktop. IMO.

Yes, I should have researched my HDD compatibility a little more and yes aparently I did waste my money but who gives a shit, I've been playing fucking games all my life and ive always had the shittiest computer and ive had to run each and every game at the lowest resolution. Do you guys know whats its like to run the latest and greatest games at full resolution in 1080p? It's fucking fun, I've always wanted to play a game and not worry if the next fireball or gun shot is going to crash my computer. The deciding factor that pushed me over the edge was when my PSU decided to stir-fry the insides of my old computer (R.I.P AGP) Besides, What fuckin person in the world never wasted a bit of money here and there.

HDTVs are actually lower resolution than a high-end computer monitor. The Apple and Dell 30" cinema displays are both 2560x1600 native resolution. One video card would work for typical usage, but I can't see getting a decent 3D framerate on one without an SLI or Crossfire setup. It's nearly twice the screen area.

The dell 30inches are pretty nice, and only like 1300$ too. I was looking at the Sharp Aquos 1080p 32inch monitor for gaming and such but because of the resolution issue I might only use something like that for consoles only. Not to mention for the price it's better off jumping to 46inch+, leaving my only option for monitors being the 30inch dell/apples.

that computer (even upgrading parts) will not last you forever. lol The sad thing is in 1 year that comp will be slower than a comp you or i could build for 1k. *but it wouldn't have such a uber, limited edition case! lol

Just what exactly makes PC gaming "superior"? The ability to warez all the games easily? :D
Or perhaps keyboard and mouse? Well, UT3 PS3 version will support USB keyboard and mouse. And I'm sure more games will follow.
Personally, I don't see anything "superior" about having to play on 800x600 resolution on a tiny screen in order to play the game lag free on a decent FPS.

the TV is mounted a little high imo unless you recline in the chair and could end up giving you neckstrain, move it down about 12".

I'd also move the sub to the floor and into a corner for best effect maybe move the tower off to the side as well.

And I wouldn't even suggest a raptor ... too loud, focus a little on making the system in general quiet and it'll make a much more enjoyable experience. The 16/32mb cache 7200rpm SATA drives you have are very close in performance being extremely cool and quiet in the process.

Some of the other posters are right though, the 2x Ultra's in SLI are overkill, personally I would have gotten one 8800gtx and upgraded the video card once or twice down the road instead of plodding through the next 4-5 years with those cards. From one year to the next the performance differences are not tremendous but 2-3 years down the road it'd be like comparing a 9800pro to a x1900xtx, even though it was the pinnacle of performance for it's time it'll be handily trumped by anything current.
