UF student here...
Kid deserved to be tasered, not just for resisting arrest but for being a retard in public. He went in there trying to start a riot and get attention and he got just what he was asking for. I just regret that it was so public. The police gave him ample opportunities to settle down and cooperate. You should see what the ultra-liberal school paper is saying. It's down-right hilarious. His mic was cut off originally for cursing and was just going to be escorted out, he started shouting that he was being arrested and jumping around and fighting the officers off. At that point he was attempting to start a riot and that's a felony. So then he was really being arrested and was tazed for resisting arrest. The police went according to procedure and I think it's ludicrous that they are currently suspended (w/ pay).
UF is the campus where on 9/11 there were a group of students out in the main Plaza trying to start a rally saying that Bush was behind 9/11 and offering their "proof." Don't even get me started on that group of retards... We have all seen how well Bush's planning of the Iraq war was, and they think he could have pulled of staging 9/11 without leaving any evidence behind? Riiiiiight.
All in all, UF is a fantastic school with great people.. We just have a few nutjobs who like to ruin it for the rest of us.
WHY ARE YOU ARESTING ME.
Moron. I have no idea if what he was saying was true or not (poor quality + poor speaker = barely understandable), but seriously, he totally deserved it.
The students should have blamed themselves for not getting the student population to vote Gore instead of allowing the old shits to give Florida to Bush.Originally Posted by Grievear

That kid deserves a kick in the balls just for going all "AWW DONT TOUCH ME GET OFF ME"
Was he cursing? You can hear every word in the CNN video and I don't remember anything like that. He talked for like 90 seconds too, although it was a pretty pointless rant about lolopression.
might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure it was actually about kerry not wanting to win, conceding when he knew he wonOriginally Posted by Charla
After reading up some more about it, and watching that latest video. I really donno how someone could think he didn't deserve that. At first the cops were just trying to get him out of there. They weren't trying to arrest him or anything. Just escorting him out, and he started yelling, and strugling with them, and like said earlier. They clearly said "stop resisting or were going to taze you". I don't care if you think its right or wrong to taze him. When they told him this he should of had the brains to stop. After watching the last video of the "OMG THE GOVERNMENTS TRYING TO KILL ME, PEOPLE KNOW I'M HERE SO YOU CAN'T KILL ME". I'm not sure hes very smart anyways, and thats only supported by him spouting that crazy crap he read from the book wrote by some ultra liberal wack job about conspiracys with the election.
In all honesty though. I really wouldn't mind if the police would of took him out into some woods and tazed the shit out of him over and over again, and shown him what a real conspiracy is when they get away with it.
Sad thing is this dipshit will prolly take this to court, and get some type of emotion distress compensation.
If I feel as if I'm being falsely arrested, I'm sure as fuck not going to take it up the ass. I'd resist too if I thought the police were out of line. And thanks to cell phones that can take video and youtube, the police are more accountable than ever.Originally Posted by Ikith
Exactly, the police are fucked on this one. Four guys and a Girl cop can't pull him out of the room without tazering him?Originally Posted by Xavier

I'm going with choice B.
You're forgetting a very important point. What if they picked him up to escort him out and he flailed out and injured someone by hitting them in the eye or if the police hurt him, maybe broke a bone, trying to keep him from running away they would get in trouble for not subduing him. By giving him a light shock with a tazer, they calmed him down and he went pretty much without a fight afterwards. They gave him plenty of warnings and opportunities to be calm and leave. He was not wrongly arrested, they were not arresting him in the first place, they only arrested him when he started shouting out attempting to start a riot, this is a felony. He was only there and only getting up there to cause a ruckus and in that regard he succeeded.Originally Posted by Odon~
If you don't believe he only got a light shock, go to youtube and watch some videos of people getting tazered at full blast, they collapse and even go unconscious. They gave him a split second jolt at a low setting to tell him they were serious.
I'm a huge fan of standing up for your civil liberties but in this situation the student was completely wrong. In that forum on private property he had no freedom to say whatever he wanted, as soon as the police felt the need he could have been removed in full acceptance of the law. By resisting and then shouting out attempting to start actions against the police, he was breaking the law. Had he left peacefully and then wrote and article or gone on TV about it, he'd not been shocked and would have been protected by the first amendment.
He refused to cooperate the the police. He got what he was warned was coming. Why are the police fucked for following protocol?Originally Posted by Odon~
Yea, it looked to me like they tried to kick him out for asking a question? Who's decision was that?
He has all the right to be there, he is a student and he was invited to ask the question.
By the way, they weren't trying to "arrest" him because he did nothing unlawful. They were
gonna escort him out, and once he protested, they decided arrested him for inciting a riot.
How fucked is that.
Ah I hope they suspend these cops too, and the kid presses for charges like the other case.
From the stories on this, he joined the line for the Q&A and after waiting for a while was told that the person in front of him was going to be the last person allowed to ask a question. So he barged to the front of the line and demanded to be allowed to ask a question, which is what got the police's attention. Kerry allowed him to ask the question and seemed willing to answer the question, but someone else (Police, organizers, dunno who) made the decision that he had to be removed right then. He resisted the attempts to remove him, as I'd imagine anyone who cared about the questions he had asked would.
Basically, the problem is not that a taser was used, it's that someone made the decision that invoking police force was a better way to handle the situation than answering a critic on a college campus.
It really is bullshit that they couldn't remove him from the building without tazering him, especially with four people. Honestly at that point you can have each person grab a limb and just drag him out if necessary.
He was kinda douchey in his presentation of the question, but Kerry didn't seem to mind and was willing to answer the kid.
I bet the police get punished worse by the end of this. Really, there is no reason 5 cops can't carry a college kid out of a building and put him in a car without tazering the guy. Drunk people resist arrest all the time, and all they do is slam um, cuff um, and throw them in the back of the car without trouble. In that case, there is usually only 1-2 officers as well. This is a joke.
I thought questions like his were the reason Kerry was at a college campus to begin with?
He didn't get stopped as soon as he tried to ask a question. He got stopped because the organizers recognized him as a grandstanding attention whore and didn't want him shitting up a civil Q&A with his soapboxing. Did you watch the video? He does on for 30 seconds about disenfranchisement and when prompted if there was a question coming in his speech, he gets garrolous "I WILL INFORM THE PEOPLE FIRST AND THEN I WILL ASK MY QUESTION!" and that's when the cops decide this guy needs to leave. Then he starts resisting.
Do you get it yet? He WANTED to have something happen to him so he could get even more of the attention he craved. This has nothing to do with his right to speak, or police brutality. This is a childish grab for the spotlight on what according to Grievear is a campus notorious for having this kind of bullshit, go-nowhere 'protest' happen for no good reason.
Ok so he was on their property... What was said property being used for... A presentation and a Q&A from Kerry. The question was asked then he was going to be escorted out AFTER the presenter said it was fine and good and that it was an important question! Its silly that the police continued when the sole purpose of him and the people being there was to talk and listen to a presentation by Kerry.
Now I'm all good with the resisting arrest thing and police following protocal and tazed him... I'm good with that but it shouldn't even go there if the presenter says its fine once his question is answered the kid would have been out of the way gone.
Another thing. They couldn't remove him with 4 people without tazering him? Ok 1 person on each end and the other 2 making sure he doesn't hurt people. Unless hes hulk, then you'd need a lot more people!
