    The card is Nivida:
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA) graphics with up to 1071MB shared video memory; S-video TV-out

Its either this lappy or a toshiba that has a radeon ati x 1200 card:

ATI RADEON X1200 graphics with 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory; S-video TV-out

Any advice would be awesome. Currently I have a amd athelon duo core at home with a nvidea 6150 SE card and game runs fine now that I have patched the hell out of vista. and updated all my drivers.
Specs wise, it should be fine. Unfortunately you just never know if FFXI will run without problems or not when you combine Vista and Nvidia cards, so unless someone has that exact laptop you'll never know for sure. If you want to be safe go with the ATI, but it -should- run fine on the HP as well.

Now the card that they have listed with the Toshiba isnt listed as a tested card on POL website.. does that matter? I hate to have to invest 600+ on a pc then take it home and boom game doesn't work ...

But yes I agree go with the Radeon.

Re: Sticky: Nvidia Video Cards and Windows Vista

    So I bought the HP..

It has the Nvidia Geforce Go 7150 M card... and pista (Vista). Well game runs okay, I do get the POL has crashed though. HP has no drivers yet for the fix. Which ones (beta) are safe for this card? and to clarify how do I install the mod that another poster mentioned?

Thanks, (still have desktop) in helping me get this little guy more stable.

I have no idea if the Vista client is included in that, I would guess not. It may be a pain but I'd uninstall/reinstall with the Vista POL client and see if that fixes your problems unless you're sure the DVD installed the right one. I have the 2007 DVD version and it did not include this.

I guess I could always call POL support and ask them too Before I uninstall the thing.

Re: Sticky: Nvidia Video Cards and Windows Vista

Sort of a unnecessary question, but what's the likelihood Nvidia will release Vista + 9500M drivers for FFXI? Currently running @ 3-7 FPS around crowns and 29.4 on MH, much like the 8 series + Vista issues. Considering it's a laptop and FFXI is a dated game, I'm somewhat doubtful Nvidia will make an effort to fix this But who knows...

Re: Sticky: Nvidia Video Cards and Windows Vista

Sorry if I come across as clueless lol but I'm awful with any kind of hardware, programming and such lol. I recently bought this laptop to start back up ff:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 4332554359

Vista with NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA) graphics with up to 1071MB shared video memory; S-video TV-out

installed it yesterday but is incredibly laggy even on low settings and crashes if I run on anything abobe 800x600. I know NVIDIA + vista + ff is bad news but unfortunately didnt know this before I bought it. Dont really have the option to upgrade to XP at the moment so if anyone could help me with this would be much appreciated, if you could show me exactly what drivers to download and how. I know, I'm clueless lol...

    Thanks in advance~

try this driver from your laptop manufacturer's website: here

if that doesn't work, try the previous version.

i have geforce 8500 gt, installed a new mb cause i had to send the other back to the RMA department. when me or my bro play wow/ffxi the entire pc would crash. the mb i sent to the rma, the game wasnt freezing up the pc causing me to reboot at all. i formatted and everything when i put in the new mb etc. downloaded the latest drivers from the site, and the probably still happened with both games freezing up. so i uninstalled it and downloaded an older driver, yet it still happened the next day. finally i got fed up and just installed the vid driver from the CD that the vid card came with, it works perfectly fine with WOW now. it doesnt freeze the pc anymore, so i thought maybe its just fFXI the game thats messing up. therefore, i uninstalled ffxi and reinstalled it last night. today so far i crashed one time. i have no idea what is causing it. if anyone knows whats wrong with it, please let me kn0w. thanks in advance.

oh yeah and i'm using windows xp pro.

So I'm probably doing it wrong but...

    Dell XPS M1730 (laptop)
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU t9300 @ 2.50 GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX
    Vista - 32 bit OS

Framerates are barely playable. 4-10 FPS in Whitegate, 15-25 in completely unoccupied areas.

I tried installing 3 of the drivers on this site, then went to the NVidia site, typed in my specs, and downloaded 175.19.

With all 4 of my driver installation attemps, I got the same error: The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers
that are compatible with your current hardware.
    Setup will now exit.

    What am I doing wrong?

Friend of mine just installed FFXI on his computer and is having framerate issues after he goes through POL, when FFXI starts. Every 2~ seconds, the screen freezes for 1-2 seconds and then unfreezes, but any cinematic/animation that may be playing on the screen continues playing as if it never froze (essentially skipping what would have shown if the screen never froze).

He is running Vista 32 bit, video card is 8700m GT. I've installed the FFXI-specific drivers for him with using a modified .inf file to get the installer to accept his video card, but the problem persists when FFXI starts up.

    Anyone have any advice?

Edit: I should clarify that I did disable QOS packet scheduler and it made a substantial difference, but there is still noticeable framerate lag.

Vista x64 beta 180.10 drivers leaked today

They support (finally) SLI across multiple monitors, as well as performance increases

If anyone is willing to give them a shot: http://resources.vr-zone.com/downloa...a64_Driver.zip

edit: well, they don't work with g80 cards, only g92/GT200 series, WHQL's will support everything though
