With Wizard's roll (that's the MACC one, right?) I nuke at least Nidhogg at 90%+ acc with 303 skill.

I don't believe in this skill cap and it would be pretty hard/annoying to prove, although I do agree with the sentiment that sacrificing too much INT for a total skill build is not worth it damage wise or resist wise...
Just so I am not crazy 1 Magic Accuracy = 1 skill for all offensive magic stats right? (Dark, ele, enf, etc.?) its early...
I ask to make sure cause I just got a Pretty Princess Tiara, i mean morrigan's coronal! so I guess I do hit 330 in my skill build with a fair amount of INT...missing a few key pieces too

For me and my personal experiences/anecdotal evidence, I'll keep believing that 1 skill is slightly greater than 1 macc.
non ice nukes i have 332 elemental, 11 macc, and 95int
i havent really seen resists when i switch to this set (even get pretty consistent blizzard III/IV on byakko)
I had Warlock's Roll during a Khim fight, and honestly I didn't see a large difference. Even with an 11 I still had to recast multiple times to get Slow II to stick, sure I might have gotten unlucky because it took so long to stick, but then again I may have gotten lucky whenever I did get it to stick.Originally Posted by Celebrindor
It would be nice if there was a listing for stats like accuracy, magical accuracy, and the like...
After the Corsair Buff, I noticed a large difference in Resists with 11 Warlock's Roll on Ouryu. (On BLM Nukes of course)Originally Posted by Septimus
It would be nice if it works as well on Enfeebles. Give me a Corsair for Shijin so I don't feel like a waste of space. >_<Originally Posted by Rocl

Mind, I'm not a mage, haven't been for years.
I always thought Macc was like Acc, when compared to pure Skill.
Skill offers Acc and Attack, Macc or Matk offers one or the other.
Str is checked and helps damage like Int, but without the Acc to hit, or Att to beat the defense, it doesn't matter much.
If you want to enfeeble Shijin level bard!
I don't know if Khim is a good test for magic accuracy, as mobs like him and Cerb have such a huge natural resistance to enfeebles its hard to gauge....I would think his resistance is by design since he is not very high level mid 80s? based off exp he gives.
If a bard can land threnody on the mob you are usually good to go also <.<
Well at the very least I think we can agree magic accuracy helps somewhat on offensive magic..right?
Max Elemental Skill adds no direct damage, the damage it adds is in lower resist rates only... I think you know that but I hear what you are trying to say. Unfortunately there is no direct comparsion of Combat Skills and Magic Skills which can be made...as, like you said Combat Skills up attack/accuracy...elemental skill lowers resist rate only.
So yeah once again why can't we see stats like magic accuracy ranged attack, accuracy etc. again ? <.< PS2 limits?
So, Magic Attack helps push through Magic Defense.(right?)
Magic Acc helps land spells.
Skill doesn't do both more or less, just prevents lower damage "hits"?
That's weird.
Least the Int ~ Str comparison is similar.
Comparing melee mechanics to spell mechanics is pretty much a fool's game. It's better to just ditch the analogies and learn how they work, independent of each other. Not even the STR ~ INT thing is accurate, really.
Edit: Kinda Offtopic and derail.. I guessMost people I speak to on this subject agree that 1 Macc is NOT completely equal to 1 skill in offensive magicks. Its somewhere a bit lower.
Well It depends. I don't know much about nuking but I have spent a while checking resist rates of en-aero against colibris (high wind resistance) and overall it comes down to 1 M.Acc = ~2 Enhancing. I basically fought a colibri for 50% of its life in Enhancing then slept it, changed to Macc and continued the rest of the fight till it died. Then calculated the average dmg/proc which is why its only an approximation.
Magic accuracy is assumed to translate to skill somehow which indeed helps land spells, or does skill translate into magic accuracy? lol who knows.....Originally Posted by Max™
For instance on enfeebles its either full resist or no resist......skill helps that
Elemental its either spell lands at 100% dmg, 75% dmg, 50% dmg, 25% dmg or fully resisted...I think those are the tiers, pretty sure didn't miss any....might be wrong about the 75% one..
HadesBothari - I'm somewhat confused by your statement... could be the lack of coffeeeee.... could you explain in more detail your tests?
It was basically 100 en-aero hits with enhancing equipment? - 50% full hits (20 damage?)
100 en-aero hits with magic accuracy? - 25% full hits? (17 damage)
I knew well about that % resists and I knew it'd take too long to get exact % of each resist tier. So Instead what I did was to take the total damage done / number of swings. That is, if it took me 30 swings to get the mob to 50% health, then I totaled the enspell damage over 30 swings and divided it by 30 (ignored melee damage). I then changed gear. If it then took me 26 swings to kill it from that 50%, I totaled the enspell damage over 26 swings and divided by 26. I did this on 4 mobs for each value of Macc vs Skill (twice with Macc during first 50% and twice with Skill during first 50%).HadesBothari - I'm somewhat confused by your statement... could be the lack of coffeeeee.... could you explain in more detail your tests?
The reason for the 50% of mob HP was to avoid the chances of level differences between mobs skewing results.
I did do a search and found nothing relevant. and since you haven't referenced anything thanx for the useless comment.Originally Posted by draxyl
In my experience after 320 elemental skill, I go full int excluding Novio and Mold. Resists are never full at worse half and not very frequent. Its just my personal belief that after 320 its just overkill.
Edit: Wop had a great post in one of these threads about why an INT build was so much better than Elemental. Search for it. I honestly don't remember the thread name but it was in the other section.
