You know what would be a good idea? Adding to some templates "Related threads" and link to BG threads which a great deal of info is talked about (combat forumlas, strategies, etc etc).

And don't worry, I'll have multiple copies on seperate, desolate corners of the interwebs, so you'll never be able to find them all!

Arr, the RDM guide be mine!

1- It's not possible for a DRK/SAM to reach gear haste cap. 5% head, 4% hands, 6% waist (Haste Belt being magic haste), 3% legs, 3% feet, and 1% from a ring, is all we can get (22%). 3% is pretty substantial when you're getting in the 90th percentile. (I believe I read Kirschy claiming that Catastrophe adds 10% to gear haste, so it might be possible with a relic, but wasn't too sure on where I saw that x.x;.)
2- And, Last Resort was made into one of the most powerful JAs in the game with the introduction of Desperate Blows.SE made up for years of 'hating' DRK!
Also, how would I get access to edit pages and such? Would love to add to BGwiki (mostly Dynamis, as I pull a lot, and DRK stuff) in my spare time.
Editing is disabled while we set up the core infrastructure. But let me tell you, some of the infrastructure being set up now excites me as to how good the finished product is going to be.
There was something I was thinking of when I was thinking we could hit the gear cap, but hell if I remember what it was EDIT: Oh yeah rune chopperOriginally Posted by Mashu
And last resort is still terrible, it takes a specific setup with a ton of buffs to be useful for 30 seconds. Max does not forgive.
I really appreciated your guide; I've been helping the BF take his first job to 75, and realized I knew next to nothing about Dark Knight. The guide helped confirm a lot of things we "felt" were right, so that was a nice aid. I suppose my only suggestion is that you might go back and tidy up some of the sentence structure. You have good stuff in there, so present it well.
[edit] lol my own sentence structure
No one is gonna read your job guides you jive ass turkeys
i cannot wait until we go live so other people can add all the Resist job traits, so I don't go insane.
And trying to go through and update pages so they're consistent with everything else is no fun.

I liked it also (bored waiting for editting to open), but is DRK so endgame-centric or is it just your guide? It seems unfriendly to anyone who is starting out, WRT to gear and strategies.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
Because melee jobs are just.. melee jobs, pre-[whatever], and kitting out your job only becomes an issue once your job actually distinguishes itself from the others. DRK and WAR are going to wear the exact same thing (with very few exceptions) for a long time.Originally Posted by Liselle
But really, the Max?Joey? guide says how to gear yourself for any level: Haste then ACC then Attack then weasels and whatnot.
I was happy with it since I had no fucking clue what to tell the BF to buy for his feet -- 'cause once I hit 52 I had shoes for a long-ass time. Stupid WAR.
[edit] LOL at the post below.

Browsing the wiki is entertaining to the max
I focused on endgame type stuff because that's where DRK gets hard to play. I would have filled out earlier important gear, but, well, it was annoying enough to fill out what was there.Originally Posted by Liselle
Any suggestions on what to add are welcome

And DRK footwear really sucks for a long time. It's pretty much RSE, Leaping Boots, etc. Nothing worth pointing out.
I hate DRK and only got it to 37 -- kicking and screaming -- because I wanted Stun, so I can't help you much, just wanted to give you my impression after reading the guide.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
You could mention the Axe belt for /WAR. I used Great Axe to level my DRK on the advice of someone else, and didn't regret it. Or maybe mention weaponskills with utility value, like Shield Break (found that useful to kill Rhino Guard in Garbage Shitahell). Or skillchains, lower-level parties still have traditional non-WS-spam parties, or so I hear. Weapon Bash for stunning gobbie bombs and the like. You don't seem to like /THF, so I guess it's not worth mentioning using that in the 30-49 stretch either.
Ehh, that's all I got off the top of my head. Not much that will help people who slum in these forums, but if the BGwiki is ever going to be a good resource for Joe Everynoob, I think stuff should be aimed at newer players.

I think Max's guide is good, but I hope it's still a work in progress, as it's very too the point, but doesn't really get into detail that a new DRK might want. (At least, that's how it appeared the last time I looked at it). I think the wiki will be targeting players of all levels like FFXIwiki did, not just people who might have another job at 75 already.
Oh, and I want to bring up this guide, which is the best thing I've found on wiki, and I hope we can put something like it on BGWiki: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Maxim ... mage_Guide
I wrote it for somebody who knows how to play FFXI but is ignorant about DRK.
You may wish to include something about the viability of /RNG 20-30. You more or less have to use sushi, but between getting your face beat in and bloody bolts it's a pretty sweet combination.
Hmm interesting idea considering how bloody bolts are prety powerful at low lv.Originally Posted by Stromgarde
I usually use /rng because losing 1~2 str in exchange for 10 acc is a sweet deal pre zerk.
Who is making the FFXIclopedia section of BGwiki? Complete with all the screenshots and emails and such. Taj?
Someone's gotta make the article, for all those in the future who may have missed it and are curious why FFXIclopedia is out of date and no one uses it anymore.
