Charitwo you are the biggest fuck up I've ever seen. Dude I hope your not like that in rl, getting everyone in the ffxi community forums/in-game and otherwise to hate you is a amazing thing, my god man did you have people kick the shit out of you everyday you were in school or what? I'm serious man something is wrong with you dude.
Don't worry, once they see the other wiki has fallen behind and is missing a lot of vital information, they'll look for a better wiki that's kept up-to-date with more accurate information.Originally Posted by Ganzar

But to so royally fuck up on averages and probability like that...that's freaking 7th grade material (not schrodinger, but the concept that Eruntalon was working with). The only ones who will bother to put in their time copying BGwiki and updating FFXIclopedia will be Ganiman and his crew. Everyone else will be lazy and would rather just go to BGwiki than update FFXIclopedia.Originally Posted by Fallso
I'm sure Ganiman and his cronies will do a good enough job stealing the major updates from BGwiki (e.g. new expansion content, new battlefields, etc.) However, minor info that gets altered or updated on BGwiki probably will be missed by Ganiman, and so FFXIclopedia will have a decent amount of misinformation within it. And nobody will know any better to correct it unless one of us goes over there and tells them. And even then, they'll argue that they're right.
Well, if that Creative Commons thing has any teeth, they'll at least have to re-word things rather than just copypasta everywhere, since Wikia is a commercial entity, no?
i'm so confused as to why there is drama over creation of a wiki. someone summarize why theres like 1000 threads about it lol
No. Just read the threads. Anyone who posts a summary will have some sort of bias when they post... it's best you read it all for yourself and form your own opinions.Originally Posted by Arvin

Page 1 of this thread. What else am I missing? I lost track after I had to go to school and bed on the other thread, so idk if there were more statements by the ffxicylopedia people, I believe good summeries near the end of the other thread due to the fact of that person who gave us some entertainment.
yeah I used to get that a lot >.> Eruantalon is Tolkein Elvish. He played on a different server than me, and quit a long time ago.
Basic summary, as unbiased as possible:
Ganiman accepted donations to fund the FFXIclopedia servers, and when he sold it to Wikia, Taj asked where the remaining unspent donation funds went. Ganiman had no clear answer, and people were claiming that he defrauded the community by pocketing the leftover money. Taj gained access to Ganiman's email through illicit means and posted logs of emails between Ganiman, other FFXIclopedia staff, and Wikia staff. The emails supported the claims that Ganiman wasn't being entirely honest about what happened to the leftover funds.
Of course this was just the beginning.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Later after this was revealed, ffxicylopedia admins were requested by both Ganiman and Gahoo to be quiet about the entire deal which created much speculation onto their guilt. Mieren talks with fellow BG member(s) about this and that, refer to page 14 for the entire thing. A few days pass and Ganiman finally makes a statement about the entire ordeal.
My opinion:
After reading statement after statement, it's quite clear that there are a few contradictory elements with each one. Take it as you will, but the main thing each have, though generalization is a good thing when it comes to calming public opinion, it doesn't escape the fact that some details do not add up still, no matter how you try to sugar coat it. Things have been said, and setting the entire thing strait isn't simply repaired by making a simple general statement to the public.
There are very strict rules for fund raising, if they seriously did spend the money wrong and can not provide receipts for the money spent then they could be in serious trouble with the IRS wikia and the admins that received money or spent the money on anything other than what was said. There are very strict audits that would come into play for that money. All someone has to do is Report them, I'm sure someone can get their real names and address and do a simple irs claim form you would be surprised how serious IRS take their jobs.
So like, this got really boring.
