For those worried about this not getting out to people who don't frequent these boards or whatnot, do what I did. Post it in your blog if you have one. Tell friends to read about it and post in theirs. Etc. Post on server forums on KI. Whatever. Continuing to just talk about it here won't do any good in spreading the word.

I've already got a short debate going on with another BG user in my comments (I insist people refrain from flaming other people in my comments, or I will edit them). It's interesting at least, to more fully hear the more thought out arguments on the other side (since the generalized statements aren't helping).

I did my part and brought it to the attention to the members of my LS. They still plan on using the wiki all the time and are siding with the admins, but at least I made them aware something was even going on.

Don't worry, once they see the other wiki has fallen behind and is missing a lot of vital information, they'll look for a better wiki that's kept up-to-date with more accurate information.

The only ones who will bother to put in their time copying BGwiki and updating FFXIclopedia will be Ganiman and his crew. Everyone else will be lazy and would rather just go to BGwiki than update FFXIclopedia.

I'm sure Ganiman and his cronies will do a good enough job stealing the major updates from BGwiki (e.g. new expansion content, new battlefields, etc.) However, minor info that gets altered or updated on BGwiki probably will be missed by Ganiman, and so FFXIclopedia will have a decent amount of misinformation within it. And nobody will know any better to correct it unless one of us goes over there and tells them. And even then, they'll argue that they're right.

Of course this was just the beginning.

Later after this was revealed, ffxicylopedia admins were requested by both Ganiman and Gahoo to be quiet about the entire deal which created much speculation onto their guilt. Mieren talks with fellow BG member(s) about this and that, refer to page 14 for the entire thing. A few days pass and Ganiman finally makes a statement about the entire ordeal.

My opinion:

After reading statement after statement, it's quite clear that there are a few contradictory elements with each one. Take it as you will, but the main thing each have, though generalization is a good thing when it comes to calming public opinion, it doesn't escape the fact that some details do not add up still, no matter how you try to sugar coat it. Things have been said, and setting the entire thing strait isn't simply repaired by making a simple general statement to the public.

There are very strict rules for fund raising, if they seriously did spend the money wrong and can not provide receipts for the money spent then they could be in serious trouble with the IRS wikia and the admins that received money or spent the money on anything other than what was said. There are very strict audits that would come into play for that money. All someone has to do is Report them, I'm sure someone can get their real names and address and do a simple irs claim form you would be surprised how serious IRS take their jobs.
