Think that makes a difference? Knowing Ganiman, that seems exactly like the kind of thing he'd do. Take the $500 and not do the survey (and provide made-up results to tide them over).

Responses this late and this full of carefully chosen bullshit words and ordered the way they are prove to me that they had something to hide, and are hoping by sugarcoating things and appealing to peoples tendency to think good of their fellow man that they will have proven to be on the up and up...

Anyone who belives this shit is a moron.....why would anyone give a fuck about discrediting them seriously..

Fun fact #1: Gani and all the wiki admins are still silly douchebags who were taking money under the table and keeping it quote "under wraps."

Fun Fact #2: Gani and other wiki admins have repeatedly said that BG contributes almost nothing to the wiki.

Fun Fact #3: BG is still making its own wiki that will spank ffxiclopedia on their cooperate money mongering asses.

Fun Fact #4: No one really gives a shit what the "real story" is anymore because the lack of response and/or lack of consistency in their response to every claim that has come against them, along with aforementioned under-table money, has completely dashed what little credibility they had against the rocks. As a direct result, see Fun Fact #3.

Yeah, I'm sure that deal has been canceled after all the negative publicity...but also seeing how it was an under-the-table deal, maybe bg could get a similar deal to help defray the costs of sending a few people to fanfest next year. As long as it was only like 1 or 2 questions a month I wouldn't have a problem clicking a radio button on the front page to see the results of popular questions.

I think we'd have to become a premium site for that, and I think that would do horrible things to the idiocy level here (alla was was this close to cold fusion before they became a premium site, the mnk/plds that invaded subsequently used the cold fusion experiments to try to improve their ice crystal hq rate when facing southwest).

they may have well just said:

"TAJ SHOOPED THE WHOLE THING-- 5000 HOURS IN MS PAINT"

that would have been better than "the emails are true, but they're not" wich is pretty much what's being said in the OP

We 'ave been workin' hard o'er th' past few days t' finalize th' transfer o' th' site t' wikia 'n t' ensure that our personal information be protected from further abuse.

That process be now largely complete. Th' wiki be fully functional 'n our forums are (obviously) back up 'n will be moved in th' next week or two. If thar are any issues scallywags are havin' wit' th' new site, let us know so that we can look into it.

Th' allegations levied against th' administrators here are o' course unfounded 'n completely false. We would like t' express our sincere appreciation t' th' vast majority o' our community who has expressed, both publically 'n privately, thar owns outrage at these allegations. Th' support we 'ave gotten has been a big help t' us in dealin' wit' all o' these accusations. T' those who 'ave levied these allegations against us, we only ask that ye consider th' full facts - much o' which was posted above on Friday - but has been mostly ignored.

Thar are a few pieces o' misinformation out thar due t' th' hacked emails 'n lack o' contxt. Thar are three issues related t' th' fundraiser which 'ave been identified: (i) th' merchandise itself bein' part o' th' fundraiser funds; (ii) a differin' price point on th' merchandise; 'n (iii) th' source o' th' funds fer th' giveaway. We'll try again t' clear this up.

    1. Th' merchandise was always a part o' th' fundraiser 'n be no different than any other fundraiser that has gifts fer donations o' certain doubloon amounts. If anyone wanted t' forego thar gifts they could 'ave easily done so - 'n indeed - some did. Most were excited t' receive these limited availability items 'n donated precisely fer that reason. We had 110 scallywags donate $50+ in order t' qualify fer th' t-shirt. Assumin' they each donated only $50 (which we know they didn'), that accounts fer more than half o' th' total donations. Thar be no way t' determine whether more or less doubloons would 'ave been raised without th' gifts, but it seems likely that th' gifts helped rather than hurt.

    2. In December 2006, five t' six months afore we had th' total volume, design, quality, etc. fer th' t-shirt 'n mouse pads, we had a different wholesale price quote. Th' prices ended up changin'. We got better quality items 'n ordered less than we originally had hoped. Th' quality was important t' us, 'n we 'ave nah heard any complaints from those that 'ave actually donated 'n received th' items themselves.

    3. Th' accountin' above be accurate wit' two exceptions. 1. Th' servers were actually $609/month (two Intel Xeon 3060 Dual Core Conroe Processor servers wit' 4096 MB RAM, a 2 Server Cross Connect 'n DiskSync 20 GB). 2. We spent $250 t' acquire th' ffxiclopedia.com domain.

As fer th' remainin' funds t' be used fer th' WotG giveaway, they will be that amount leftover from th' fundraiser, nah from Wikia. Th' discussion o'er these use o' these funds started in late August shortly aft th' announcement. Wikia was generous 'n offered t' pay fer some or all o' th' th' giveaway if we desired. We originally accepted 'cause, well, why nah. 'twas nah 'cause thar was no doubloons, 'cause any doubloons was missin', or any other fanciful idea. While certain individuals insist on tryin' t' make naught into somethin', we be nah tryin' t' hide anythin'. Remembner, fer years th' administrators maintained th' site wit' naught, or more accurately, negative, compensation. Nevertheless, we be willin' t' use th' remainin' funds t' cover th' costs o' th' giveaway.

If scallywags 'ave riddles, post them here 'n we shall do our best t' answer them. understand, fer legal reasons we cannot 'n will nah discuss th' terms o' th' transaction wit' Wikia or th' actions bein' taken against those that 'ave invaded our privacy. We loot nah only our user's privacy seriously, but our owns as well.

This brin's us t' our last point. More than anythin', this reaffirms th' needs t' 'ave everyone protect thar passwords 'n confidential information. This week th' administrators 'n junior administrators 'ave had thar financial accounts, email accounts 'n ffxiclopedia accounts hacked. Use strong passwords everywhere, change them frequently, 'n don't use th' same one everywhere.
    Much better. Gar.

    Re: Dear BG

    Dear Charitwo,

Please remind the Clopedia Admins that the truth will set them free.

    a) The forums were never hacked; the admins themselves shut them down after repeated posts they did not care for were posted, and they found they could not control them easily by repeat bannings of those people trying to post the information.

Silencing the flow of information is generally frowned upon in the free world. Bending the truth and claiming they were hacked obviously makes them look a lot better.

    b) No one's financial accounts were EVER hacked into. The shots were not from the PayPal website, they were email receipts sent from PayPal. PayPal would find no record of Taj's IP logging into anyone's account other than his.

But of course it makes it look much worse not to say that.

    c) I notice they very nicely avoided trying explaining the quotes from their correspondence. Unfortunately, this isn't 1950; people don't accept the glossing over and sidestepping anymore. Though apparently waving big shinies in front of some people still works; the Perons used a similar tactic in the 1940s, one of the most notable being weekly/monthly lotteries for poorer citizens. It is unfortunate for them that personal gain can blind them to reality, cynical and disgusting as it may be.

Well, for those who find that getting something is more important to them than honor, I guess Clopedia is the perfect place for them.

    d) I would gladly attempt to post this argument on the Clopedia forums, but I know that without fail I will be banned ASAP. Which would only prove my point. Silence the upstarts, if the truth can't be heard then the lies become truth!

    e) Funny, their itemization seems to have changed a little.... how much did the servers cost? $800-1000? $600? $500? Hm.

    f) A "vast majority" of original contributors to Clopedia and updaters are BG regulars. I don't think Ganiman's 20 edits or less each in the past three months qualifies him as much of a contributor. Especially with trying to make the move and such, you think that's how a good portion of his time would be allotted, don't you? To keep the site on top?

Please, please, please, everyone who swallows this... please open your eyes.

Or maybe if I promise to give away um, a spot in my LS if you transfer to Odin! Um... yeah, free WotG, I guess. And a tee-shirt! And a mousepad! A ticket to FanFest! And a date with me!!!

Maybe that will convince people to listen.

This doesn't tally. Mierin posted here that Ganiman had ordered 'too many' t-shirts and that's why Sundi sports one now. Which statement is true?

Oh wait neither is true lawl.
