if they turn into a crystal/chest theyre gone forever. so if they die you have 3 rounds to either get them back to life or clear the battle.Originally Posted by Po

Man this game is fucking tough.. lol
Spoilers: FFTactics wasn't ported by SE, they had a third party do all of that. The reason FFIV Advance, FFVI Advance, Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, and War of the Lions had glitches and slowdown problems was because the company they license the porting to sucks. I can't remember their name but I remember a lot of people griping about them when IV was released on the GBA and they mentioned that their company was notorious for half ass porting. :/
I agree with everyone above that the over romanticized dialogue is distracting and kinda cheesy in some spots but I still enjoy the game even with the ridiculous slowdown in some parts.
The company you're thinking of is TOSE Co. Ltd. of Kyoto.Originally Posted by Auspice
I kinda miss the spell quotes ("Brush off vanity and show reality! Ultima!" sigh) but I can do without them. The decision to use the analog nub to rotate though is very bothersome to me. The screen can only be rotated when you can move the map position cursor, so why did they map both controls to the left thumb?![]()
Yeah i agree Turambar... i actually think the camera controls in GENERAL leave a bit left to be desired. But your point specifically, about how you cannot move the camera unless you are also able to move the cursor... is annoying. I am usually spamming the R Button as the enemies are making their first moves, you get a split second when you can move it while they are walking XD.
Very minor gripe i suppose? But it still annoys me.
I had completely forgotten how frustrating this game could be. Already have to grind some levels/skills and it is only the third or fourth map (when you first run into Black Mages and Archer enemies lol)
Good times.
To anyone grinding for a DRK, don't forget that Firaja, Thundaja, and Blizzaja can be learned BLU-style by casting them on your own party members (assuming said party members are currently BLMs). Thus, you only really have to learn each spell once. Should save a couple thousand JP per character.
An addendum to this point: it's a 30% chance to learn these spells when a character is hit with one of them.
Just out of curiousity, has anyone encountered a 'Desertion Threat' from one of their own party members before? I've played through FFT many times back on the PSX, but I've never encountered something like this until today.
If a character's permanent Brave is below 16 or so, or if Faith is above 84, they'll talk about leaving at the end of battles. If permanent Brave falls below 6, or if permanent Faith goes above 94, they will actually leave. Basically:Originally Posted by Edilibs

Obviously Ramza is an exception, which makes him an ideal caster since he can go all the way to 97 Faith.
I assume the JP glitch no longer works, then?Originally Posted by Turambar
They fixed the JP scroll glitch and the weapon shop dupe glitches. The Gaffgarion dupe glitch is still extant.Originally Posted by EternityEnd
How do you do the JP glitch on the old PS1 verson? Could never find out how to do it.
First, you need enough JP to buy a skill, and the job you're doing this on needs to have a skill list greater than a page (meaning you can scroll)
Basically, you click to learn that skill, when it asks if you want to learn it, hold down Square and move up or down, and keep repositioning how the page is set up if you have to, until the cursor ends up on a skill you don't have enough JP to learn. Click OK, and exit out.
iirc, Usually one of 3 things will happen:
1) You'll get 9999JP
2) I don't remember if you got 0 or if it stayed the same, but you could go back and learn all skills w/o losing any JP
3) Nothing happens, try another combination
Difficulty curve? More like difficulty sheer cliff. The AI has a brain which is cheating!
since it's ruined for me, i'll ruin it for everyone else

This game is very hard at the beginning for sure.
