    Re: FFT

It's not even fair lol. I thought I was doing decent. My blm firaga'd their archer and Gafgarion and killed them both.

Then their Knight walked over like haithar and hit my blm for 120 damage after he had already Rent Ramza's golden armor.

Meanwhile, the fuckin time mage immobilized my other Monk, and Agrias was not in range to do anything yet.

It took all of my resolve to not throw my psp into a wall

At that point in the game, I always make sure my guys either have a full set of Break or Steal abilities. Just send Ramza at gafgarion immediately, and steal/break his weapon. Voila, no more Night Sword bullshit. Then I send a Ninja up to the Time Mage directly to the right, and that's pretty self-explanatory.(Fatality) Then, concentrate on the Archers, then the Knights. Depending on how smart of an AI you get, the Archers can either be easy or a massive pain in the ass.

Really though, once you've disabled Gaf, it's cake. Also: Only Cloud(Don't even bother with Cloud, he's a piece of shit. Limit Breaks take hours to charge. >_>) starts at level one. Cid is like, one or two levels above your Ramza.(?) I haven't played this version, so I don't know about Balthier.

As far as the shield goes, people have been saying the shield and spear are still there, but just do not have the increased stats like they did before. I'm about to get there myself so I'll have to check it out.
It would have increased the break/steal chance if you were attacking from the front. If you were attacking from behind Concentrate wouldn't help.

    Chapter 4 - Finnath Creek.

Most of my guys are at 85, and I just got to Finnath creek which is filled with red and black chocobos, which are now also 85. Boy is this gonna be a tough one.

Anyone know a list of one time items? And maybe a comparrison of whats avalible for grabs on multiplayer? This whole not being able to steal from elmdor is depressing to hear :/.

There's a bug in this version of the game. Characters (enemies only I believe) can still use their "Sword" Skills without having swords equipped. (Gaffarion, Meliadoul, etc being prime examples)

Fuck that happened to me too, but it wasn't 85 lol. Ramza was 10-15 levels above everyone else cause of the solo Wiegraf fight (I ended up yelling to 50, then accumulating to 30ish <.< 1shot wiegraf, then 1shot all of the mobs after that before anyone else got a turn lol, also mastered ninja)

Just keep resetting until you get a battle that doesn't have many black/red chocobos, fuck choco meteor and that other black move, fuck them.

btw, did Chantage give unlimited RR in the original? I don't remember ever getting it in the PSX version, and this time I was using it, and was like, fuck my only raiser died, and she kept reraising over and over lol. Tried out an angel ring but it only had 1 reraise charge/battle on it =/

Also, I kinda take back all the stuff I said earlier. This game is great. I'm still pissed at the shitty quality with the slowdowns, which is keeping this from becoming hands down one of the best games ever, but it kinda gives you an incentive to not use special characters, and you do get used to it a bit after a while. Definitely worth buying (not like I did but w/e lol)

    Fuck. >_> That'll be annoying.

Chantage has always made you invincible, yes. It's the reason why Agrias is a better character than Cid.

Basically just start Agrias under the arch and have her Stasis Gaffgarion with her first attack and hope to god stop procs. Oh and if you think that fight is bad wait for the next one lol.

EDIT: Just realized they probably changed the name from Stasis Sword to something else, just have her use the move that has the added effect stop, her first one.

Just confirmed the Javelin II and Escutcheon II are indeed still in the game. Got them both with a character that had 78 brave, I wonder if they changed the move-find item mechanic? That or I'm just insanely lucky.

    Re: FFT

Just got to chapter 4 and am unlocking several of the secret characters.

Also when I fought Weigraf I did not have the "equip gun" on Ramza, and he was on NIN at the time. After tailwinding up to 50 speed I noticed something odd about my toss item command. One bomb did 496 damage to Belias, this was absurd as on average they seem to be around 40-80 damage usually.

    my party currently consists of:
    Ramza NIN
    NIN
    NIN
    Time mage/chemist
    Reis dragon form.

All of my characters are in their mid 30s right now.

I beat that fight earlier thank fully

My setup was Ramza - Monk, Agrias and the Machinist dude (forget his name), random Blm, random Monk

The key to my victory was essentially that my blm killed one of their archers and Gaffgarion with Firaga in one swoop. So that helped big time. And that Agrias'
KO sword move procced on one of the knights at like 75% life.

I'm gonna soak up this well fought victory before moving on to the next 1 or 2 in the castle I assume

Does it stay this hard for much longer lol? Seems to be lots of grinding.

2 more fights and you can enter in to some relatively easier battles. for the next fight make sure ramza has 200+ HP and can use hi-potions. stock up on about 15 or so and give him the item command. if you use like a white mage or something or MNK with chakra for healing then just bring enough hi-pots for ramza to use, 5-6 is a good number, probably 8 for a nice buffer if something happens.

since it doesnt sound like you've played this on PSX before, what are your thoughts on it? im curious.

    Re: FFT

I love it, I am having a blast with it. I really like all the character development and the feeling of accomplishment when I win these really difficult fights.

Ramza is nowhere near proficiency in Hi-Pots <.<... how much JP do I need for that?

He has Chakra though which obivously gives 60 hp... that isn't good enough?

    Re: FFT

yeah chakra will work fine, i think night sword takes 54 HP each time, 84 if it crits (only ever seen it crit once). chakra will work fine as long as it recovers 60 HP each time

    Re: FFT

Just did that fight and got destroyed. I was able to keep Ramza healed each time so that isn't a problem, the problemo is going to be figuring out how to kill those other 6 fuckers with just my group of 4.

if you can get off an arm shot on the summer with mustadio, you're golden. then focus fire on the archers. i had a ninja and a monk during that battle, + mustadio and agrias, was super easy.

    Re: FFT

It'd be nice if I had a NIN but no one is really close and I don't want to grind forever.

I thought about arm shot but its only 44% chance at landing, guess we'll see.

I just unlocked Balthier and holy shit is he amazing. His speed is amazing, and his movement speed isnt too shabby. Ontop of that his attacks keep up with my dual weilding melee while being ranged. He can also steal shit from opponents and use melee swords when needed he is like a super version of Ramza.

I had to ditch Beowulf from my party unfortunatly, even though I really liked the chicken ability (drastically lowers attack)

I agree he's good, but no one with guns can keep up with my dual weilding or two-handing melee. He usually does 150-200 damage for me, while my melee do 120-250 per swing (DW) and two handers do 200-600 usually. I'm ~40 so level might make a big difference... but I agree he is great. Trumps Mustadio in every way, his skillset is quite nice, as is his speed.

Has anyone used the other new guy yet? I never gave him a try because he seemed very average with not much unique about him, I'm wondering if he's any good? I like keeping the useful unique characters leveled just in case I need them.

Throw did so much damage because you Yelled to max speed. Throw formula is Speed * WP.

    Re: FFT

So I was just able to unlock my first NIN, and I know everyone says how godly this job is.

So what are the best abilities to learn first out of all the throw choices, and which weapons are best to dual wield? I am currently dual wielding mage mashers since I read that was best.
