They better tell us what's up with Aldo and his "family" over in Jeuno. He's too much of a badass to be left out of this expansion. A Serpent General type quest for him would be great.

In FFV Atomos would cast comet over and over until a party member died then it would suck them in gradually. If that is indeed Atomos I wonder if there is some connection with the comet in some of the WotG screen shots

The tarutarus in the opening movie weren't casting Comet/Meteor, they were summoning Atomos.

I thought they said we would meet up with certain famous NPCs.. so i don't think it will be that far back.

Well, it's possible this might not be the Crystal War, and that this is actually the first war when Windurst/Bastok/San d'Oria were just becoming active. Actually doesn't the presence of Chocobo Knights confirm it's most likely that time?

They showed Orcs in Davoi (which I'm pretty sure happened during the war) and they showed Jeuno as the giant bridge it is today (which was near war-time). Safe to say this is the Crystal War.

I wonder if the fight against Atomos will involve him Chainspell spamming Meteor a'la AV.

What would be cool is that, SE makes it so with have to fight Atomos in an unbeatable BC where we die and get sucked up-- then ported to WotG's time period. (Initial time flip at least)
