    Hrm.. if they release Time Mage or Geomancer, that'd be the first mage job I've ever leveled seriously. I don't count BLM since it's level 17 and I use it for warp onry. D:

    Perhaps Geomancer will be the next job.

    And no, I don't think there's any basis for believing Dancer will also have Geomancer abilities simply because the command for Mog's Geomancer abilities in FFVI was called "Dance". It's just text, people. His abilities were geomancer abilities. Look at FFV if you want to see what the difference between a Dancer and a Geomancer is.

    Hai gaiz, I just watched the trailer at SE booth here in TGS, and what I can say is that Dancer was meleeing in the footage.

    A brunette hume in red AF is seen slashing some monsters, and as she uses what looks like a WS, the mob is surrounded by a big rose and vines, and seems to takes damages. There was also a CS with her dancing in a pub.

    Forgive me if this one has been posted before, I read most of the thread a bit ago so I may have forgotten. But has anyone checked out this site?

    One of my friends was trying to translate it, though he said he was struggling with some things. He's says he's gotten a few things from it, like that it has HP and MP inhaling moves, "does consecutive attacks 'That the sword will not'" (???), and "threatens" monsters. Also that it's an auxiliary support type job.

    Anyone that knows JP really well want to go through it? =p

    There are also plenty of FF Tactics/Tactics advance specific rehash/renamed jobs that I would not expect to see, like gladiator, gunner, archer, oracle, elementalist, illusionist, templar, defender, etc.
    Pretty much all those tactics ones you mentioned are already represented in some way.
    How does that apply to any of those other than time mage and mime? The closest thing we have to chemist is like... usable potions and consumables? lol. The closest thing to engineer is.. pup? Not very similar to Edgar's abilities at all. Necromancer is sort of like hybrid smn/blm, but not that close, and SE had already tried to implement it in ToAU. Squire/onion knight are dumb, but we have nothing that similar, unless you want to count warrior because of the number of weapon types it can equip?

    Geodancer overlaps a lot more with brd and elemental ninjitsu than those jobs do with anything really.
    Sorry I didn't mean the ones in the first list, I meant the ones you listed as rehashes.

    As far as the onion knight thing I actually can see them doing something like that, it would be cool to see a tank job based on purely physical defense and physical abilities rather than blink tanking or mana based threat.


    As far as the Geomancer thing, I think they will have to make dancer basically cover that, if you look at the games that have strong dancers and bards both as well as geomancers (tactics in particular), dancers were basically exactly like bard except debuffing instead of buffing. That wouldn't really work in ffxi as bards already have the best of both worlds.

    Unless they introduce entirely new threat mechanics just for this job (or my understanding of threat is entirely flawed) I really doubt this will happen.

    I saw that before, but fail to see the point. SAM WSs have pretty pink flowers, does that make them Geomancers?

    There's a huuuuuge leap from a big rose and vines in a WS or Dance animation to Geomancer.

    Wow, nice find!

    I ran this through a translator, and the "HP and MP inhaling moves, consecutive attacks, and threatens monsters" sentence seems to be referring to Dancer abilities in FFV rather than FFXI. The following sentence then speculates that Dancer in FFXI will be a "job of auxiliary support type", but doesn't seem to have any data to back up this claim directly.

    Can anyone else confirm/deny?
