I want to level Dancer just to do LB5. Epic dance off to break the level cap! Maybe you'll get to out-dance Maat in his younger days.![]()
I had two thoughts on this. First is a selection of spells dependent on the weather, with clear weather counting as one as well. The ground might give bonuses in this situation. Like snowy ground giving bonus to spells available from ice weather, while frozen water gives bonuses available to ice weather and rainy weather. There wouldn't be any negative modifiers if you couldn't find the right type, just benefits. The second idea is simply it works like an normal spell list with the second part of what I described above, with the right ground type giving benefits. If they did do a Geo, I would hope they wouldn't limit it by what ground your standing on, because that could make things really hard to play as (but then again this is SE... Of course, if they gave Dances Terrain affected potency, they could satisfy people asking for Geo, without having to figure out what to do with the job away from ideal terrain, and indeed what the job would be useful for at all.
Dancers could have very potent debuffs, a few key job specific buffs, and then the strategy of the different terrain affecting them (you can do X dance better on X terrain because you move better there, or whatever) lets it be more than just a "stand there and shake your ass til the mob dies" job.
Are't they re-writing FFXI into DirectX 9 ? if so that might be huge in terms of what they can do. maybe there will be more possibilities for animations on PC Xbox360. and on PS2 they could just have the emote line show up ?
if that's the case they could really have the new jobs move around considerably.
anyways... not really sure what to think about all this except..
i want them to make Warrior more of an acceptable tank. they already have the basis of it. and i was poking around the dat files and found a Defender2. could be implimented sometime down the road with the Warrior update they promised over a year ago.
How is making Geomancer into an even gayer Bard satisfying anyone?
Because people could have their Geo stuff to geek over, without being totally useless in a wide variety of situations, barring totally changing the job into something that may as well just be Dancer or something else entirely?Originally Posted by LD
Adding Geo to another job just seems simpler than turning the concept of Geo into a useful stand alone job with any reason to be used.
We already have jobs that people have to fight to justify a reason to bring them, do we need another?
"Can I come on Geo guys?"
'Sorry, the Terrain around Khimmy isn't suitable for the spells we need, go get on your Rdm plz.'

You know I always wanted to level Bard, but yknow Bards in this game are so overly desired and I'd hate myself even more when I merit so Dancer will finally be my next SUPPORT JOB
I mean my next TANK JOB
Making a Geo a gay dancer satisfies nobody. Nobody who wants Geo would like that.
what's the point of having a strong debuffer class? what needs debuffing? most shit is weak enough as it is, the single exception being AV and even then it's only because SE updates him to be unkillable every time someone kills him
Well, back when the AU speculation was rampant, there was a lot of talking about how they would/could incorporate Geo, and it just didn't look too promising without doing something akin to Pup (was going to be Necromancerish, look where it wound up) and totally changing the basic job into something else anyway.
The problem being, what do you do with a Geo to make it so it isn't neutered without the proper terrain.
Imagine a Blm that required Ice Day and Double Ice weather to be fully effective.
Like was stated there are plenty of ways to make Geo work, I just doubt SE would try so hard for a job.
Also seems possible, albeit unlikely, that the image there is actually of an NPC with gear that we won't even have access to (alla Tenzen, Prishe, etc.). It could be that we're getting Geomancer and the NPC is just a Geomancer in Dancer clothing. Could go vice versa and be that we're getting a Dancer and that the flower/vine WS was some special NPC move we won't get, but that seems even less likely.
Seems more likely to me that they decided to go with the Mog setup, and make a Geomancer whose spells are activated by dances.
Though I would really like a Geomancer who wears PJs and fights with a bell.
@Kachi
Considering SE's odd sense of humour I wouldn't be completely surprised if this were a joke or not exactly what we expect it to be.
How to Unlock Dancer:
Look at a picture of a penis
NPC asks you "How does this picture make you feel?"
- "Hot and Sweaty"
or
- "Thoroughly Indifferent"
or
- "YUCK!"
Option 1 and 3 will net you Dancer.
Seriously, though.... really? Dancer? Wtf.....
You realize there is a job already in the game based on inspiring people through music. And Dancer has already been in previous FFs.
