Dancers are inspirational performers. They wiggle their bodies and you punch harder(in theory anyway). Kind of like how Bard can physically ill you by singing funeral music.

To be honest, I'm more expecting a 1-handed weapon damage dealer without any support capability. They'll likely go /NIN for both dual wield and survivability when they pull hate. However, a good portion of their damage will probably come from dances, of course.

This is just based on how past FF dancers have been damage-oriented, without any buff or debuff dances (other than one that caused confuse or charm).

If they gave Dancers party buffs, or monster debuffs, it would be entirely new to Dancer. Not to mention, out of character.

How many FF dancer"s" have there been in the main serie (not Tactics)? FFV, FFVI's Mog (like others have said, the dancing factor didn't mean much since he was really just a geomancer) FFX-2's songstress (which I'd consider a bardancer) are all I can think of.

Reading part of Elmer's translation made me think that it would be a melee COR with unique kinds of buffs, it seemed like something similar to WoW's windfury would make sense given the "swords dance" description.
