I'll play it if Hume males get to equip boomboxes and do the worm.

I just hope they make Dancer's have a decent staff skill. I want to be a Pole dancer.
In FFVI "Mog" was a dancer, but his dances were essentially geomancy. I really wanted a geomancer in this expansion ... maybe DANCER will make it happen?

Can someone explain what function they think time mage would serve?
The majority of typical time magic is already assigned to other jobs:
Haste, Slow (1 and 2), Bind, Warp, Teleport.
So, the time mage can cast Stop?
That doesn't seem like something they can make a job out of.
Well, FFV time mage could also cast:Originally Posted by Vyvian
Speed
No real FFXI equivalent, but it doubled your Speed stat, which was distinct from Haste.
Mute
Silences both you and the enemies; virtually guaranteed even against monsters that are normally resistant to Silence
Old
Causes level/stats to drop over time.
Comet
Single hit damage.
Meteor
4x hit damage.
Quick
Take two actions in one turn.
And then there was also Hastega and Slowga, but those are covered by avatars. Wouldn't hurt to have a mage capable of it, too.
They aren't really 'covered' by avatars, Time Mage Hastega would probably have less restrictive recast conditions. Also, Avatars have lvl 2 and 4 nukes, not like BLMs & RDMs suddenly stopped using them (though they aren't the same damage.)
Well, I just meant spells that are unique to Time Mage that aren't in FFXI. Hastega and Slowga are already a player-usable spell in FFXI, so I didn't bother giving them too much attention.Originally Posted by LD

But comet and meteor already exist as BLM spells, they just aren't castable by players.
Remember reading about ranger in brady guide, about how it was so far above all other DD, but that's because it cost so much. Well that's what alchemist could be, a DD far beyond all others, but actually make it insanely expensive to LvL and use.
Time Mage is more accurately a Time/Space mage. Meteor/Comet are Time Mage spells. Demi, Quick, Hastes, Slows, Stop, Tele and Warp-- there really doesn't even need to be a whole lot of original spells for a Time Mage. I mean hell, you can't say that it would be redundant. You can, but half the DD jobs in the game are redundant. One redundant mage isn't the end of the Vanadiel.
Obviously it would have a lot of spells that are already in the game like Gravity, Haste, and Slow, but they could easily come up with several new spells, and easily make it useful, but not overpowered (well, assuming it weren't SE).
It takes a profound lack of creativity to not see how Time Mage could work.
There are also a number of "currently unavailable to players" debuffs they got in Tactics. Primus is Amnesia (Confuse with a new name). Some other tasties are the aforementioned Slowga, Break, Breakga.. In fact, -ga versions of most debuffs and some buffs.Originally Posted by Vyvian
There's also a number of other statuses they could be "updated" for FFXI to include which would be fun to fiddle with - I.E. Disease/plague. I doubt, however, they'd give us Doom (for some reason) and Zombie would be nice but difficult to code.
Function? Party buffer, and with the new mass-combat systems coming out for WotG the ability to -ga debuff would be a) lethal (quite possibly to the caster as well) and b) orgasmic. There have been dozens of times I wished some mage could Eleseal and Para-ga or Silencega into a Garrison or Besieged.
Best of all, a lot of the spells for this hypothetical Time Mage are already in the .dats - they could add a "new" spell tree without divesting themselves of the PS2 or doing nearly as much code and graphics work.
Unless I'm misinformed, I thought Speed lowered/raised the speed of the universal ATB Gauge? I never really messed around with the spell so I can't say for certain. Also, if I remember correctly, that's the spell you get in a dungeon with all the Imps that kill you in one-two hits?Originally Posted by Khamsin
