Don't remember if anyone mentioned in the thread yet, that the clip of the dancer in the video comes looks like it's from the pub in South Sandy, which also happens to have a blonde hume female at one of the tables iirc, bin su long.
Its funny how everyone mentions the gender-specific term Bard but always seem to miss Monk, which is even more restricting.Originally Posted by LD
In any case, I'm quite certain the male AF wont deviate too much from the female...
I can envision the male version will have a red dress-shirt with a big collar, with it exposing a fair bit of the chest.. probably in a V shaped fashion. Think Ricky Martin trying to look Spanish. It will probably get puffed or open sleeves
kinda like these sleeves but no rings..

and no skirting, tho maybe something like a green sash..
maybe something like a green variant of this

probably just straight black pants.. and matador boots..
The Dancer outfit is a modified bathing suit, so the male probably will too.
Damn why can't they give us a period of time where we can change our race/gender like they used to do with world transfers. I WANT TO BE A FEMALE HUME DANCER, male dance animation is going to suck and so is the AF.
Because you have already seen the male AF and the dance they will do and already know it will suck?Originally Posted by Reapz
When was MNK ever restricted to males, at any point in FF history? Not that BRD was ever restricted to male, either. Not counting Tactics, which is its own separate universe and so is irrelevant.Originally Posted by Spira
I am going with the male dance animation is the one in the trailer that the backup dancers do, and the AF will be something like Bartz as Dancer in FF5, so still female > maleOriginally Posted by Koga
Neither were ever restricted to gender at any point in the main FF series. Tactics isn't considered part of the main lineage anyway.. besides, BRD already proves its gender rule doesnt matterOriginally Posted by Khamsin
I was under the impression that beyond that people saying Bard shd only be male were arguing semantics.. so i mentioned mnk anyway
Historically, the terms monk and bard have been fairly gender specific, particularly monk.
It's probably safe to say that there will be no gender specific jobs introduced into FFXI at any point.
What would a female Bard and Monk be called, if they're gender-specific terms? Bardress and Monkress?
Songstress and Nun >.>Originally Posted by Khamsin
I think the female equivalent of a Monk would probably be a Nun. No idea about the bard though.Originally Posted by Khamsin
I just went there, the blonde hume female inside is the wrong model, but the blonde hume female outside is the right model. The one with the right model is Katharina, and advertises for the pub. The one inside is Najjar, a model looking for work.Originally Posted by klvino
Monk is male (with nun as the female equivalent).
I believe Bard is technically gender neutral, but as Cadsuane pointed out, has, at least in Britain, traditionally been a male dominated job, even to the point where their theater groups would be all male, even with female roles. But in(on?) mainland Europe I believe it was more common to have female as well as male "Bards".
Personally, I'm looking forward to the Elvaan F dancers ^^ and hopefully whatever they give Elvaan males won't be as.. interesting as some of the other armor (like Sha'ir manteel) we got.
Bard is usually male, Dancer is usually Female.
