meh there is going to be a different af suit for male dancer, i just don't think SE is gonna work hard on this new job just for female players.

It's just like AU with COR, BLU, and PUP AF. They don't have it finished for everyone, more than likely, and will finish it in a later update.
........Fucking seriously?
The only reason I brought it up was because dancer and bard were gender specific in Tactics. ;/
the term monk is kinda misleading. isnt it called like brawler or grappler in the jp version? anyways if your going to call males monk then something like miko or shrine maiden would be more apropiate than nun. i heard somewhere that current day vana'diel monks are a combination of 2 different jobs but i could never find a source proving that.
Ya, my memory was fuzzy so I had to check it out too. Katarina mentions something about Norvallen Resistance and it's leader, some elvaan name beginning with a "V", which is the old elvaan guy standing behind the counter. The old elvaan didn't have anything interesting to say.Originally Posted by Rocl
Norvallen Resistance sounds like it may have some wartime reference.
This is from the Elmer's Monk page about Oggbi. I believe if Monk wasn't given to the player, he would be the quest starter to get it.Originally Posted by Alisha

He also starts the MNK AF weapon quest.Originally Posted by BRP
That much is true (doesn't miko = shrinemaiden anyway? touhou sense tingling), but seeing as FFXI is set in that sort of era, we would have to have proper japanese settings (that aren't events) and eastern content and every eastern job is present that I can think off without ever going east. Well, basically what I'm saying is, for something like nun or shrinemaiden to work, we would need a proper setting.Originally Posted by Alisha
If I had to guess, Dancer will be female only. It will be another gimmick. However, males will get a similar job with similar abilities (maybe a slight difference somewhere) called Jester. Just a guess![]()
yeah thats the only way i could see "gender specific jobs" is that it would be the same exact job just with a different name and different looking AF, i couldnt see SE adding specific jobs based on your race or gender without a way to change it. Jester probably would have been a much more flexible job now that you mention the name. could serve the same purpose as a dancer, could flow for both genders, and maybe make more sense of out easing in throwing wsOriginally Posted by loial
but its too late now will have to see what were instore in for galka dancer af

Well hopefully the male counter part of the AF looks... different. It would be disturbing to see male dancers with a red rose in the hair etc etcOriginally Posted by Seigfried Of Pandy
On the topic of different looks for AFs, maybe male taru dancers will look like

Wonder if they'll finally implement some dance moves into FFXI like they did in WoW... /doubt though.
*edit* forgot to add: MSPaint FTW.
So... female MNK?

They were gender-specific in Final Fantasy Tactics. Everywhere else, the jobs were available to everybody.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
"Usually" is a pretty strong term for a pattern adopted in only one game.
While it'd be a new twist on jobs to have a gender-specific one, it would kind of break SE's seeming mentality of being able to do nearly everything on one character.
I doubt they'd make a male equivalent of the job with different name. Why make people search under two different terms for the same job? Or need to list two jobs on a piece of gear so "one" class could use it?
Something tells me that if they do make gendered jobs, you won't have ones that are different only in name. It'd be a waste of resources.
all in all though i doubt there will be any gender specific jobs and it will just be a very different (hopefully) looking af for the males.Originally Posted by Isiolia

There's no requirement that job AF must look exactly the same. The gear pieces are R/EX, so when you acquire them from quest or quest npc, the item or gear can be specifically suited to your characters gender. For females it means they get a rose, for males it means they get a hat or some headband of some sort. It's not unheard of, the RSE quests would be the most similar quest I can think of that incorporates this pattern. It'll help the guys out that currently question their sexuality, but it'll be a bummer for all guys out there looking for work as a stripper or in drag.Originally Posted by Seigfried Of Pandy
male dancer af is going to be a Polyester shirt with a butterfly collar with some weird looking pants i bet.
