    Re: Dancer

Remember when we were all noobs soloing our first job at level 1, and we thought circling the mob and "dodging" hits and trying to whack at them from the side made a difference? Maybe... in the past, it did! At least, for Dancers.

I know its been beaten to death that I think it'll be a pure DD with no major buffing/debuffing abilities (beyond the scale of what maybe NIN or DRK might have, but won't be enough to be considered "support"), however even I have to agree that a straight port from FF5 would = fail for Dancer as a pure DD, since even in FF5 they sucked. So to spice it up, perhaps they get to take advantage of special combat rules like in Pankration, where you deal crits from the side, on sleeping mobs, etc. and the Dancer's Rampage will be the 5 point exploding heart technique where the Dancer has to run around the mob poking specific pressure points for big damage if done correctly!

Ok, now I'm starting to feel alla-ish.

To be completely honest, it's kind of far-fetched to assume a dagger-wielding job will be a major DD of any kind without damage boosters of some sort. The weapon is too weak on basic hit-for-hit damage alone.

    Re: Dancer

lol you watch too much kill bill..

I sincerely hope there are no more DDs, cos we have enough of them. Especially the physical ones. Magic DDs.. well we could use 1 more perhaps, but its not like BLM doesnt get the job done already. At least with physical you have different weapon/damage types.

Another support job isn't that bad, altho the current support trinity RDM BRD COR is pretty stable as it is. If DNC were to join in the fray, the upper limit of jobs would have been increased by so much more... Tho, I think they'd learn the lesson from COR and make the buffs considerably strong enough to rival BRD to begin with... just like with DD jobs, if it cant keep up with the close substitutes.. its acceptance will be.. not much.

or it could just join SMN in the 'i do everything but everyone does it a little better, but i'm unique cos I can do everything anyway, so i'm better' category..

well yeah... but if it buffs itself (like THF) it can be somewhat of a DD maybe not as good as some of the DD today but a DD noneteless

And in doing so possibly placing it below PEP on the food chain? =( Unless it's a completely new form of DD (ie. BLU), I think the game is pretty much covered. There's never enough support and tank classes tho!

Well, look at THF. THF is a dagger-wielding job like Dancer, and isn't a support job. They have Sneak/Trick Attack and have a few talents besides raw DD that are valuable. There's no reason to believe that those thewy dancers won't have a few tricks up their ruffled sleeves, either. Question is, if Dancer ends up being in a similar category as THF, i.e. could be geared to be a decent DD, but has other utility to an alliance, and yet doesn't provide buffs or debuffs and so isn't a support job, who would "win" the DD/support debate? lol

Although to be honest, my gut feeling is: DD-oriented, but with damage based on special ability use more than melee, like it was in FFV. If I wanted raw DoT in FFV, I'd stick Dual Wield and X-Fight on someone and watch them go to work. Same idea in all the other FFs, whether it be Genji Glove and Offering in FF6 or using the fuck-shit-up materia in FF7. When I used Dancer (not because I wanted to, but because I wanted to master it and learn EqRibbon), I didn't just whack away with regular melee hits, I spammed !Dance with the Dance Shoes equipped and (hopefully) let Sword Dance do its job.

Regardless of what Dancer ends up being, I'll be happy if and only if their AF head piece is the Ribbon. Not some +2 to elemental resists piece of crap, but something like the Flawless Ribbon, only 100% guaranteed to resist status ailments.

I wonder how long we can get this thread debating what dancer is going to be before WoTG release, than we can come back and those who were right can pile on the I told you sos.

@Kham: That's what I meant ("...without damage boosters of some sort."), but if you take those damage boosters away for some dances that do God-knows-what (which probably won't increase YOUR damage), we're back at square one. =(

For FFV's endgame, I stuck dragonsword (the hp/mp drain) and some magic commands on a mimic or suppin. For Exdeath, I used suppins with summon and white magic (to esuna and cure after friggin grand cross landed). Didn't you know about the statues in odin's room that you could just chain lv.5 death on for instant AP? I mastered most of the jobs there and never even used them outside that room.

Well, traditionally, it would increase YOUR damage. lol

I'm not talking special self-buff dances, either. I mean, no buff or debuff dances at all, self or otherwise. Just damage-dealing dances. As in, you dance, they bleed. Like Sword Dance, or the HP-drain one. MP-drain one would be kinda useless in this game, since mobs have a bazillion MP as it is. Traditionally, Dancer has had a charm dance, too, which SE has confirmed. But I'm unsure as to whether it'll be a significant part of their playstyle. At least, I know in FFV, I aimed for Sword Dance, not the charm one. But I guess we'll find out.

Are you talking about the ones that you can just toss a soft potion on for instakill and AP? Yeah, I abused that a bit, but finished off most of my jobs on Movers in the Cleft of Dimension.

    Re: Dancer

Yeah, probably the same ones, I just always used lv.5 death instead of buying 20 bazillion soft potions. Movers are usually a pretty rare encounter, too.

Someone found several "Male dancer" pics drawn with that AF on... Hume male, Elv male, taru male ... very disturbing indeed, at the same time very well drawn they took time to make the gear look same as it is in the pics O_o

    Re: Dancer

    Shamelessly stolen from lol Alla

Famitsu has a (new?) article thats like an interview:

    http://www.famitsu.com/blog/vanatsu/200 ... f=art_game

    Translation?

    Guy on alla says that:
-First question was if Dancer is aTank, reply was "if it is PT set up would be DNC DNC DNC WHM RDM BRD
-Second Question is if timemage will be a job, not confirmed or denied but SE said it could be added
-Third Dancer is a Enfeebler/DD >.>, Swords Dance mentioned, also older FFs mentioned >.> lol

yeah so if we can get a translation it would be nice xD
