Relax Deejay, jesus fucking christ. People are allowed to think that the story sucks.
And sorry for commenting on inflated reviews and making ONE ASIDE based on what I read. Fucking overreact more, why don't ya.

You're making comments on "inflated reviews" and i'm the one overreacting? Seriously, read what you're saying lol.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

I personally think reviews matter and that the gaming press is pretty lame about reviews sometimes, and when you have these numbers so mismatched with the text of the review then you have something fucked up going on. I'm using Halo 3 as a point to show how reviews, especially of multiplayer games, are fucked up.Originally Posted by Deejay

I was playing the campaign and my brother and I laughed the whole time. I would get hit and my shields would go down OH NO!? Just run away and let them regenerate, then do it all over again.
I thought the weapons were just playin corny (same as before i guess). The SMG was the most effective for me and I used the grenade launcher a bit to. It was ok, but I would hit someone with a direct hit with it and they wouldn't die? A direct hit with a grenade launcher?! lol.
Ok so Mario Kart and Halo3 have the same lvl of strategy, thats sad. I played 5+ multiplayer games with 4+ people in the room, some team and some solo. I jumped and shot and jumped and shot there is very little to no strategy. No one talked to each other or commented on anything at all really.
Anyway, I was disapointed. I expected bigger and better and I did not get that. I would suggest that people who are not, or were not big into Halo in the first place rent this or play it somewhere before buying it. Its not the end all be all.. not even close. I would rate GRAW2 better in almost every aspect of multiplayer, the other games I threw out there were just for added effect... I didnt really like those either heh.
I'll give it another chance and really try to enjoy it but at this point I want to either return it or sell it to a friend at a discount.

And on a personal note, i'm loving it.
A lot of times someone will play a game thats really liked by a lot of people and can't really get into it. I'm the same way with Metal Gear Solid games. Theyre cool and all but nothing about them really wows or interests me. It just feels like any other game. I preferred some Splinter Cell games too.Originally Posted by RakEx
Sounds like you're just part of that boat who gave Halo a chance but wasn't really (for the lack of a better term) turned on. Thats fine though.
If you're playing Team Slayer then yeah unless you speak up no one will really try to talk. Those are usally the games I play when I want to wind down at night and just kill people.
Try team capture the flag or king of the hill, or even team SWAT (i forget what they call it in halo 3) and you'll run into a lot more talkative people.
i really like the new vehicles, when i first saw the Elephant i was like "wtf?" lol, then the brute thing that looks like something off star wars
as for new weapons, they are alrite, gravham is sick and so is a mauler + smg
The problem w/ reviews is that, despite ppl critiquing them, a lot of ppl feed into them all and expect great things. If you see a "9" rating ur gonna expect the game to be awsome, so ur gonna go in expecting something that will blow ur mind. Coming from somebody who didn't read the reviews and didnt keep up w/ the hype I find the game pretty damn fun, co-op is a blast (and easier than single player modes) as it requires friends to communicate and plan certain things.
I haven't played multiplayer yet because I wanna finish single co-op w/ my friends first, but it seems that multiplayer is rly where the game shines.
And as far as ppl bitching about the game being a "shoot until u lose ur shields than run and hide" strategy, then ur missing some of the most enjoyable moments in the game! Don't be a woos and be afriad to die. Nothing is more enjoyable then running up to a mob, while 5-7 others r all shooting u, and charging the thing while blasting away until ur close enough to knock it out w/ the hilt of ur weapon; then dodging to the side w/no shields left and running around a structure slowly getting a chance for them to recharge before zerging the next grp (no real feel as if ur waiting for that shield to recharge). Granted u don't always survive those tactics but its fun as hell lol
I've never really been a big fan of Halo. I played the first game on the PC and never past the library level; the level design was terrible and i got fed up. Playing online was fun, though. Overall, I thought it was a decent game, nothing spectacular. I played Halo2 recently on my 360 a few weeks ago. the campaign was terribly disappointing, especially after playing HL2: Ep1 right before it, and the contrast was so vast. Playing online was fun, but I was 2 years behind and couldn't get into it.
Halo3 is a completely other ballgame; it's actually pretty damn good. I mean, I miss the moral ambiguity and decent, though shallow, RPG elements from Bioshock, and the gameplay is sort of ancient by comparison to other, newer games; it's still an insipid "boomfest". But I'm about four missions in, and I'm having a blast. The level design still isn't anywhere near some other games, but it's such a vast improvement over Halo1 and Halo2 that it's practically night and day. By comparison to other shooters, it's nothing new or ground-breaking; it's all been done before, but that doesn't mean that it can't be a shit load of fun anyway.
I felt the reviews were skewed though, but that's to be expected, at least at gamespot. I feel there that games at the Wii are penalized for doing more of the same (MP3, LoZ: TP) where Halo3 is more of the same "but that's not necessarily a bad thing". Sure there's the Forge and the movie editing thing, but it's nothing that hasn't been done before, and I don't think it's substantial enough to break the curve. It's a grudge, yeah, but oh well. I think reviews in general are highly inflated anyway, with 9-10 being a great game, 7-9 being good games, and 1-6 just varying degrees of bad and unplayable.
I don't think anyone will argue that Halo3 is ground breaking; in my opinion, every single element has been done elsewhere and much better to boot. But to hell if I'm not going to have a fun time with it anyway.
Yeah Katlan speaks the truth. The first half of the game I was enjoying the most because the buddies I was playing with were doing things all methodical and taking time looking for snipers. I said fuck that jazz and just went into every battle rambo style just to see how many I could take out, lol. The game really punishes you for it at the beginning because theres so many damn jackals in the trees waiting to headshot you but its sitll a lot of fun.Originally Posted by Katlan
Edit: And I think Haud has given the best, non-biased interpretation of Halo 3 so far. Everything he's said I agree with .

Much easier to do in co-op over single player. But after u get past the first lv u can do the "zerg em and bash em w/the hilt of ur weapon" strategy in single player as well. First lv just has way too many snipers to get far at that strat. Not saying I didn't love each time i successfully pulled it off though :DOriginally Posted by Deejay
Giant Hammer thing + Deployable Shields = fun.
Id through em out as Brutes were charging me and when the group of em gets stuck, smash em all with the hammer thingy. Great fun.
Didn't know it was an official list.
Anyway, add me!

Anybody else having trouble with achievements or other things not unlocking? Last night I got the "We're in for some chop" achievement but it didn't give me that new armor. And then I beat campaign in Co op with my brother on normal (cuz he's a noob) and it gave him "campaign completed: normal" but not to me.
If you beat it on a higher difficulty then you already got the achievment points for beating it on normal. When I beat the game on Legendary I unlocked like 425 points lol.

Right, but I got nothing though. Just the mission complete for the final mission. Maybe it could be because I started a co op online on legendary with my friends and then played through on normal with my brother?Originally Posted by Deejay
