Played it for a few hours tonight, did the first 4 "episodes" of campaign and then my friends came over and I showed we went through the maps checking them out.

Overall all the maps suck, they're way too big compared to the good H2 maps (Midship, Lockout, Warlock, Beaver Creek) but I think I can live with a few of them. The forge editor is fucking fun as hell and you can save the maps and upload them to be downloaded by your friends which is cool, same goes for the video you record. It's just as amazing as all the videos about it sound. Truly a well put together game the only disappointing part, like I said, is the maps.

Hm.. I think Halo 1's overall maps were better than Halo 2's.. and they were a bit bigger on average? Of course, that's just my opinion (and I dunno if I'll ever be able to say anything tops H1 LAN) that bigger maps may be a cool thing to have coming. I still like faster-paced maps, too (nothing beats pistol wars in Halo 1 at Wizard/Hang Em High).. but.. I could also go for another Sidewinder or two. Either way, your review has me even more stoked.. =o

And even if the maps do tank it to the overall community, more can always be added easily.

Every weapon has it's place now, but the BR and Carbine still rule the metagame and they buffed Assault Rifle, upped it's magnetism and speed of shots and lowered the Carbines speed of shots slightly to bring it into balance I think. Overall you'll end up using the BR and the power weapons more often still, it's not like H1 where the Pistol was strangely overpowered if that's what you were hoping lol.

I'm just grateful for the forge so we can fix the stupidness of some of the maps as far as weapon placement/inclusion goes.

So someone at work today told me of a very small, unknown game store on our big night-life avenue that has been selling Halo 3 for the last 3 days. I didn't believe him, so I went down there on my lunch break and sure enough they were. Snagged a copy, returning EB preorder tomorrow. Life is good. 8)

The madness starts tomorrow for me. I have to open @ 9am, work til 3. Then come back at 10 for the midnight release. Then lucky me gets to open the next day. I plan on just staying up and playing Halo 3 until I have to go in for work.

Work at 8.45 til 3.30, then have to work 9-1 at gamestop for the release. And yep, get to open next day, bright and early 8am, haha. Unfortunately I don't have a box yet (MOTHER FKING /CRY) but will be getting Halo 3 when store closes, getting my box Tuesday afternoon (paycheck ftw) and playing all day Wednesday.

Hm... Our store has 751 preorders as of 9am this morning. More will roll in tomorrow, and of course there will be a bunch of people who didn't pre-order who will still go. In comparison, the next highest game at our store was at about 250... By the way, even if you didn't preorder, going and waiting in line is still worthwhile. They do order more. And even if they are sold out by the time you get up there, it will be a load of fun with all those people.

Ring of death.. When your 360 is really shot, the circle on the front that normally glows green will be an entire circle of red. I've been hearing most places wont repair a defective box until the ring is red, hence 'red ring of doom' when all hope is lost. Even still, some have issues and the ring stays green.

Glad I'm not your store then. Our pathetic mall is lucky if it has 751 people come in on a weekend. One side of the mall is so slow and barren that you can run into random encounters if you go to far down.
