Man SE made a pretty awesome Trailer, w/o telling us too much.. and to think we might be getting 2 more trailers before release :O
A 4th idea for Cait Sith is based on the art style of his character model, it looks similar in style to the Imps.

From what I gather from the FFXI history website (http://www.shadow-ffxi.com/HistoryofVanadiel/), Karaha had tied his lifeforce into the cardian "Joker" to obtain a greater deal of control over the four master cardians, the Aces, after he borrowed them from Zonpa to search the ruins in Windurst. With their help he found the legendary Full Moon Fountain and alerted the Star Sybil. She journeyed there and was confronted by Fenrir (the real one) and had a vision of Windurst in ruins. Karaha and the Star Sybil wished to stop this and returned to ask Fenrir if fate could somehow be changed. When he said that it could not, the Star Sybil allowed Karaha to try to alter the will of Fenrir, but instead he attempted to fully control Fenrir.
Later, during the Crystal War, the Shadow Lord sends a large proportion of his beastmen army to Windurst where they greatly outnumber the Taru, even though the taru employ the aid of the cardians. This appears to be seen in the trailer where a taru, presumably Zonpa, says "Cardians, protect the city". Many Windurstians are killed in battle and it seems as if Windurst itself will fall (seemingly the part of the trailer where many are dead on the ground) and Karaha and Fenrir appear out of nowhere. Fenrir turns the tide of battle by killing huge numbers of the beastmen and forcing a retreat. Both Fenrir and Karaha disappear shortly after and aren't seen of again.
At first I thought it was Karaha who had killed many of the Windurstians, hence the caption "I beg of you...". That implies to me they want him to stop, whereas he really saved Windurst from ruin. I believe I misinterpreted and the "I beg of you..." is a beg for help against the beastmen. Or it's a different history being displayed in the trailer. I doubt it though, it seems to fit with the story here.
Also, I believe Windurst was razed to the ground much earlier than the Crystal War. Here it was almost brought to ruin, but saved at the last minute by Karaha and Fenrir. I really don't remember so much though, it's been a long, long time since I completed the Windurst missions or obtained Fenrir.
Karaha looks badass in that trailer. Makes me want to be a summoner.
well the line could mean that someone is begging for his help to stop the yagudo, or it could also be the star sybil begging him not to unleash Fenrir. It is possible that after her permission was given, yet before the battle for Windurst, she foresaw that their actions were the cause of Windurst's destruction and she begged him to stop. It was a double-edged sword really, Windurst would be destroyed by the Yagudo or the city would be saved and they would watch sarutabaruta and windurst die without Fenrir's protection.
Will be interesting to find out what precisely happened during the war.
First time I watched it I initially thought it was him begging Fenrir to help but I guess that doesn't make much sense because the caption has his name in it.
So yea I'm guessing its Windy begging him to help pwn the beastmen and turn the tide.
Can someone remind me how the conclusion that Trion isn't old enough to be the boy in the trailer was reached?
There wasn't one, it's people assuming shit.Originally Posted by Deftscythe
I still believe it was Trion in the trailer. Same eyes, similar pointy-hairstyle and that angry/determined face.
I got bastok up to rank8 and don't know a thing about it's story, well I know it deals with galkas being in altepa and a samurai girl in metal works. I'm pretty surprised so many people know a lot about the stories.

Omg lol, loved that cowboy bebop movie and wow at naruto rip off. Never seem much of the show but a lot of people seem to like it (avatars, sigs, console games popping up everywhere).
Destin finds his wife 10 years before the war, likely getting pregnant with Trion before. How soon? If they bumped uglies asap, that boy could be 10 years old. I am in support with it being Trion, however, there is a Vana'diel Tribune article that pretty much conflicts that.Originally Posted by Deftscythe
according to the vana'diel tribune, Trion is currently 24. The Great War took place 20 years ago. In order for the little kid to be Trion, he'd have had to been training since before he could walk, drafted before the age of 4, and sent to a country that his father the king was planning on blowing up.Originally Posted by Dark Vincent

Top is obviously Trion, bottom is Rahal, the DRG NPC.
If I had to guess, the little kid is (real) Louverance. It's been a while, but I think real Louverance came from a noble family, and in the Uleguerand CS where he fights the fake one, he uses, if I remember correctly, the exact same gsword.
Damnit, I knew trion was too young. ;x
...I got the number right too....
I think the boy is Louverance tbh >.>
my bad, similar gsword, but it's not the same
but it did remind me, Louverance is in the Knights Mistalle, the family that owns Carpenter's Landing, and which sent the San d'Orian representative to the allied expedition.
Also, I think Louverance was in the temple or royal knights despite being born to a disgraced family, which sounds like he could have been promoted from the Young Griffons.
I'm kind of hoping it's not Trion just because he already got a decent role in the last expansion. Where is the love for Pieuje?! You could still argue for Trion despite the age since I don't think they pay 100% attention to the Tribune story and it doesn't specify the date it was written.
Mistalle family, his grandfather was the Elvaan in the expedition to Northlands.but I think real Louverance came from a noble family
Watch the kid be a brand-new NPC just to screw with us.
He's wearing a Barone Corazza-esque looking breastplate, which is unique to Tavnazian Knights.
It's Louverance gdi.

Now...is it Dusk Mask Louverance, or Crimson Mask Louverance....
The "real" Louverance was born and raised in San d'Oria. He's wearing a Barone Corazza-esque looking breastplate, which is unique to Tavnazian Knights.
The "real" Louverance isn't important as far as we know. It seems more beneficial to show us the history of the imposter, and see his story, since he's pretty enigmatic in CoP. The real one is kinda meh...
The armor shown in the art for the Young Griffons is the same armor this kid is wearing. It's also probably worth noting that 20 years ago, Tavnazia was a ridiculously rich nation based on trade, which would understandably have included weapons and armor, especially to San d'Oria.Originally Posted by BRP
