I actually thought it was that like 2-3 years ago, until it was concluded (in a discussion I had) that Humes are apathetic in that, out all of the 4 "human" races, don't seem to care as much about a greater cause, and Mithra are envious in that Mithra are the "showcase race" for THF. >_>

If that is true, is it just the vices? Or are their virtues/crystals out of whack, too?

I'm not sure where that came from, because on JP wiki they're listed the same way that we're familiar with, Hume = Apathy, Mithra = Envy.

I could've sworn that the light I received on CoP 8-3 (when I did it 3 weeks ago) was Dem, since I was so surprised it wasn't one near my nation. I'm a mithra, which means that my recollections don't match with the above list...

As for how the avatars match up: Fenrir had an alliance with a nation, through the Star Sybil, and also was the only avatar (so far as I know) who allowed himself to be fully summoned by a mortal. I think that he could be considered trusting for these reasons. I would have pegged Carby for being tied to hope, though...

But he did give humans magic, right? Or was that the celestials? I remember a minor quest (the one where you get the ahriman lens for telescopes) mentions that the first Star Sybil encountered the 8 avatars on the Stellar Map or something. It might have been that Fenrir granted them the power of the 8.

If you think about it, the 5 Terrestrial Avatars being the guardians of the 5 crystals kind of make sense for the storyline. Were Phoenix the guardian of the Al'Taieu, it would make sense why she was so gravely injured when it was ripped from this dimension. Also, it would make sense as to why Galkas reincarnate, since that is their mother crystal.

But wasnt bahamut Al'taieu guardian? I remember a painting in sacrarium where you see bahamuth fly above Al'taeiu.

not in ffxi but bahamut is sometimes refered to as the keeper of time. anyways i was doing the drg af3 quest and a npc mentioned something about savages to the south practicing dark arts. whats directly south of san'doria? bastock so naturally i thought of dancer wich is described as having forbidden magiks.

I could be restating the obvious, but isn't the beginning cs for DM fight each race saying "you will be consumed by xxx" and the vice is relative to the race saying it?

You're thinking too hard. DRG quests were made way before Dancer was a twinkle in the collective player base's eye. So I seriously doubt SE would allude to a job thats not even on the drawing board yet.

Its probably talking about the quest NMs. If you're too far from the ??? you get a line "It seems like a ceremony took place here" or something like that. So the "savages with dark arts" bit either referrs to the two elvaan fomor you kill or the tonberries that summoned them or something.

I believe they said to look to the past and that there were hints in the Opening of FFXI... i'll try watching that again but in the one interview (dont remember which) they said cues are in VanaDiel's past and in the Opening Movie


EDIT: okay i watched it a couple times... maybe there is a Clue in the CSes they show? (Assuiming there is one, but i doubt it lol) cuz well in the Flixbix(sp) dying CS theres a Taru COR in it

EDIT2: I just had a crazy idea... well you know in the second Trailer(E3)? when it shows the jobs? Maybe thats a clue... I mean Why show a SMN w/ a Scythe? lol maybe its a clue toa SMN-type job that uses scythes? (oh god.... necro....)
