The S.B.S (Special Boat Service). They're like the SAS's harder older brother who no-ones ever heard of.

Sorry it was late, i should re-word that. America often turns to Israel for training, better?

That being said, this thread might as well be called "hey I'm from ____"

Wouldn't be just to see if you're capable of breaking bonds at any given moment. I don't know much about that organization but I would think its more towards that then being a "badass".

SEALS were one of the first to get into Iraq to gather intel and hot-spots, right now its mostly Green berets and Delta for Insurgents and CQC.

Check this out, each branch has its own Spec ops like.

Army = Green Beret, Force Recon

NAVY = SEALS (DUH) - UDT

AIR FORCE = Para-troopers (these are the dudes who are gonna get your back, most respected Spec ops in the military...they put their lives on the line everyday to get down soldies, got to give them grats.

and then you got the delta force, which isnt part of any branch, instead you got to apply and they decide whether or not your good enough. unlike the rest, plus once you become a delta you dont have to take crap from any1, no shave head, and dress how you like on military grounds...talk about priveledges !
There is so much wrong with this post it amazes me. Did you get all this from video game?

Force Recon = Marines, not army.
Delta Force isnt a seperate entinty, its a division of the green berets (army SF) that specilizes in anti-terrorsim.
Air Force Para troopers are NOT the most respected spec ops in the military, they are simply the closest thing the airforce has to real soldiers.
Seals were not the first Spec Ops in Iraq..
    Jesus man.

    Re: The best Special forces?

Canada's JFT-2 are quite well regarded in the Special Forces/CT community, especially in counter-terrorist operations, long-range recon specialists, and the general professionalism of the unit's members. During a mission in Afghanistan in 2005, I think, a JTF-2 sniper recorded one of - if not the - world's record longest confirmed kill at something insane like 1500 or 2000 metres. I'm definitely not saying they're the 'world's best' or anything, but unlike the "secret" Delta Force nobody's really ever heard of them.

As for top 3? I would say, with equal precedence, British SAS, early 1980s-vintage Spetsnaz (for sheer brutality and killing efficiency), and U.S. Green Berets as a large force of irregular companies noted for their numbers and sub-specialization.

I don't want to get into irregular regiments (like the U.S. 10th Mtn. Division or Canada's Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, PPCLI), as those take on different tasks and have much different entrance requirements than true special forces units.

An interesting part of WWII history between Canada and the U.S. lies in the creation and deployment of the 1st Special Service Force, commonly known as the Devil's Brigade. It was interesting to see an international unit of SF operators developing at that time.

lol i guess it is a urban legend just checked snopes.com and its listed there.

another joke/myth which i found halarious on this site was this one.

I'm reminded of the old joke about SAS training, that at the end of training you had to walk into a room and shoot the person you find sitting in there.

The first two guys go in, see their wife sitting in the chair, throw the gun down and run out in disgust.

The last guy goes in, and the officers outside hear a bang, then a series of muffled thuds.

He comes out and says 'the gun was loaded with blanks, so I had to beat her to death with the chair.'

Israel's military in general is pretty nuts, not even mentioning their special forces.

What you have to consider when you think about the Israelis, they have basically been in a state of war or extended conflict for the last two thousand years or so. And have been/are currently surrounded by many other nations and people that fanatically hate them, and believe their existence is an affront to their religion and belief systems.

I'd say whoever has the best technology available to them.

    So probably anything American.

But, you know, and this is probably gonna be the most controversial thing I've ever said on these forums, I think hezbollah performed very impressively recently. Which means good training, discipline. I refer to 2006 Lebanon/Israel conflict. Hezbollah is no standing army, just gorilla fighting. No tanks, gunships, hell they don't even have heavy weaponry lol... but they very surprisingly stood against israel military and inflicted disproportionate causalities on them. Very tough guys, these hezbollah.

The US air force still trains all the time with the Israeli one.
Also, the seals are not only Navy but also the Marines. Force Recon is for when you need it blown up at a moments notice with no one knowing who did it.

The Paratroops from the Airforce though are well respected as far as US trained ones, they do so much and fly in such hostile environments that it makes them a pretty bad ass unit.

The Army green beret's ... funny while in bootcamp; and this was before the entire army went to wearing beret's a drill instructor once told us, the only army we actually have to respect as Marines was the officers and the enlisted ones wearing berets... now they all do, and I really think the Army should have kept the old ways; the regular army doesn't have shit on Marine training.

    Re: The best Special forces?

The French Foreign Legion is made up of very few Frenchies. Basically if you're a criminal, refugee, want to go into battle, whatever your reason, you enter and they'll take you. If you pass the training and manage to go to the finish you have a 3 year period you serve (I think it's 3), afterwards if you like you cna return to your original identity or if you want, poof, they give you a french passport and you become a new person.

As for saying whoever has the best technology... if that was all that mattered wouldn't america be out of Iraq now? Wouldn't they have won the Vietnam war?

I'd vote for EOD, but only because I had a brother in it. Takes a lotta balls to play with bombs.

    Re: The best Special forces?

Each special forces has its strength, or there wouldn't be a need for so many different ones within a country.

Let's be fair, you wouldn't want to go up against any of them! I'm biased so i'll prop for the SAS, they often train the other nation's special forces and Sean Connery in 'The Rock' was a badass even as an OAP.
