    Can't download faster than 1mbps.

Pretty straightforward. Line is advertised for up to 10mbps down (cable, so it's shared, but still), and no matter what I simply cannot top 1mbps while downloading stuff. If I'm downloading one thing that single torrent will go 1mbps (should the seeders allow it), if I'm downloading 2-x, they'll divy themselves up to equal 1mbps. I've made sure uTorrent's download is speed is set to Unlimited, but other than that, I can only think it's some sort of ISP/modem restriction?

At peak speeds having only 1/10th my advertised speed is a rather large qualm at this point, and I'd like to get this addressed. If it does turn out to be a restriction on the ISP side, what's the point in having a 10mbps line if you can only ever use 1mbps?

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

10 megabits per second != 10 megabytes per second. µTorrent shows speeds in ..bytes not ..bits by default. So 10mbps/8 = 1.25mb/s.

Oh so that's about right then? I've never gotten 1.25 (most I've ever gotten is 1.1, but I attributed that to that buffer that uT sneaks on), but I assume that's because it is a cable line and you rarely get max speed.

Yay now I'm not worried anymore, thanks. =)

That's how a lot of ISPs trick you, calculating their speed given in bit not bytes. Those bastards.

edit: lawl had bits and bytes switched, bits make up a byte

They say you get 10, but thats when the network isn't being used by anyone but you (never happens), so you get stuck with a max of about 9.5. Max I've seen myself is 1203kb/s (9.624mbit) on a 10mbit line.
