    Shield Blocking TP Attacks

If you shield block a TP attack that has an add effect (like Tail Thrust from Hpemde has add effect para, or Spine Lash from Phuabo has Virus), do you still get the add effect on you? I know for a fact that blocking TP attacks with Aegis doesn't give you the add effect. I'm wondering if that is just a 'hidden' bonus for Aegis or if it is the same for all shields.

    Re: Shield Blocking TP Attacks

I use a koenig shield and I've noticed a lot of additional effects not hitting lately... but I never attributed it to blocks. It does kind of make sense though. Most prominent example would be tanking JoH and other phuabos last week, several times def. down and plague didn't proc on those WSes.

Enspells on sky Gods do a lot less dmg when blocked (only know for Aegis). Its been a while since I've been up in sky but I think there may have even been some add effects for 0 dmg.

I'm pretty sure it does block the added status effect. I don't have any solid proof, but I have definitely seen the knock-back and stun effects from Doll-type mob WS completely blocked.

0 would be strange but lower dmg would be normal since Aegis gives 25% magic dmg down

i didn't make screenshots. but last time i tanked mother globe, blocked attacks were only doing 30 to me but the additional effect still got me for 100ish. this is with koenig shield.

that's because added effect damage isn't a function of damage taken. it's calculated on its own.

    Re: Shield Blocking TP Attacks

As a paladin I have noticed this pretty strongly on most stun attacks or knockbacks. When tanking with E.staff I have never avoided the add effects. I think it is the shield block doing it. Either that or its a parry, on some blocks (multi-hits) I get a parry and don't get a knockback.. anyone confirm this possibility?

Same thing as anti-gravity from Archair Gears -I THINK- which is if you have shadows up = knockback, if no shadows = no knockback.

Just from what I've noticed in salvage / xp

Same here (for puks at least). It also seems the same with Memory Receptacles' Empty Seed. Best I can figure is that the knockback for these moves functions as an additional 'hit' which can miss or be the only thing which does not miss and which ignores shadows.

Gears have 2 moves, 1 which knocks you back, 1 which doesn't.

It's dependant on if u evade it or not, if it connects, then u get KBed, if u evade, either though absorption of shadows, or evade it naturally, it'll have no KB effect.

This is for wind Sheer btw, unsure about gears

From what I've seen, if the target changes gear at the exact moment in which they would be knocked back, the party does not get knocked back.

    Re: Shield Blocking TP Attacks

    Regarding gears...

if you get knocked back, you will not receive a gravity effect. if you do not get knocked back, you will receive a gravity effect. they are two different TP moves with the same name.
