if you get knocked back, you will not receive a gravity effect. if you do not get knocked back, you will receive a gravity effect. they are two different TP moves with the same name.

I'm thinking wind shear has 2 check for the actual damage WS and the knockback effect WS.

I've completely dodged wind shear before and still get pushed back, and I've taken a wind shear shadowless and didn't get knocked back.

I always thought the lack of knockback was a movement glitch (knockback movement not being calculated properly for w/e reason), but who knows. Memory Receptacle also fail at knockback at time.

I have noticed that added effects don't seem to proc on shield blocks. Luckily, there's an easy way to verify that and in the next limbus whenever we do the elementals i'll keep an eye out for that. (enpetra, enpara etc)

Regarding Wind Shear, when I was leveling PLD and tanking those things it was easy to flash it and prevent the knockback completely, it would even miss outright. So my guess is that it has something to do with accuracy, a hidden extra hit or something.

A few weeks back (with the 2handed patch) we started seeing all sorts of weird resists against mobs that we hadn't seen prior. You sure this "I blocked the added effect" isn't just a function of this new resist rate? I could swear that I've been "evading" all sorts of AOE status effects on my monk, and he doesn't have a shield

Its been happening since before the patch, I just didnt really think much of it.

It's dependant on if u evade it or not, if it connects, then u get KBed, if u evade, either though absorption of shadows, or evade it naturally, it'll have no KB effect.

This is for wind Sheer btw, unsure about gears

It's strange, with wind shear I have had shadows taken and KB'd, shadows taken and not KB'd, and I also remember guarding a windshear with H2H and evading dmg and KB entirely, without having any shadows.

I would think a good way to test this would be the good ole Diorama. Have a friend grab a silence dagger (the one that gives Enchantment: Silence - it causes en-silence for the next actual hit), and then load up on your shield gear. Just block one attack, and you can see!
