    Re: TGS 2007 - New Job & New Monsters - 4Gamer 9.22

There has been Necromancers in Vana'diel past(was able to turn a mannequin into a semi-living being), and they said they would be taking a job from the past and bringing back or something right? Well, there is always can be an oracle type job that could function like the Star Sybil and read the stars.

I think that quest with the scorpion stinger (or tail or something) mentions that Shakhrami was a Mithran pirate, so I would guess that that was her hideout or something? I might be completely wrong, plus I wouldn't be surprised if it was naturally made by a group of sandworms.

Shakhrami wasn't made by worms. It was formed from the rivers that used to flow in Tahrongi Canyon, years and years ago.

Why are Maze Makers called Maze Makers?

Local peoples often name things without knowing the entire truth behind them, so I assume this is representing that trend.

Do Rock Eaters actually eat rocks? Dunno.

Not that I expect necromancer to be a job, but if it was implemented, why the hell would they make the pets only summonable at night or in dungeons? Just because undead monsters typically only walk around regular areas at night, doesn't mean that would apply to the jobs summons. That's like saying smn wouldn't be able to summon ifrit outside of the cloister of fire or firesday. I can imagine necro getting a -perp bonus at night or something, but come on.

That's how I interpreted stuff like that. Do Orctraps actually eat Orcs? Do clots have anything to do with blood or are just named so because of their reddish color? And so-on and so-forth.

It wouldn't. There are at least two examples of Necromancers in FFXI already that summon during the day. Lamia during Besieged, and Norg pirates during ferry attacks. Some retard at SE didn't consider the latter when he claimed that as a reason why Necromancer wouldn't work. I don't think the former existed yet, but he probably knew about it.

This brings up the question. Does Galkarider Retzpratz ride Galkas?

There are a lot of NPCs that have snippets of history like that. It would be awesome if the things they talk about turn out to be clues to the past missions.
I really want to find out about what Aldo did after he escaped from Taznavia and how he became the lord of the black market. During Zilart missions I was so excited to talk to him about his real sister (Emalie?) but he never discussed his personal history.

how he became the lord of the black market.
I think his adopted father(who's name escapes me atm, but is mentioned in CoP) was the leader of the Tenshodo, so he just inherited it.

That makes no sense to me if he died during the War, how would Aldo know about the Tenshodo considering he was just a child? And even if his father did discuss the black market with his youngest (presumably) child, how the hell did he convince the Tenshodo to let him lead it? I'd imagine they'd off him when he was young

Not sure if this was 100% official word. But I heard that the puppetmaster was their intention as the "necromancer" however considering the very negative and evil association with them the theme was changed (think gambler -> corsair). Also the large theme of undead only appearing at nighttime/dungeons would cause a major exemption to the rule. Heck I remember besiged used to be bugged for the undead untill they had to "break" this rule to allow them to march during the day.

Comparing them to summoners isnt the same. Summoning magic has no "themed restriction" the only thing signifigant about the cloisters is that it is an area where a gateway to their home exists. You are borrowing their power and requesting their services wherever you are.

One could argue about jugpets. I mean how does laying out bait for a crab in the middle of a desert work? But this analogy is easier to ignore.

Because you are summoning Spirits... not the elementals...
