It's probably going to depend on a number of things. First and foremost of course, what the general scope of dances is. The more towards a support job they are, the more logical it'd be for them to sub WHM to increase utility in form of backup healing, status removal, etc.
If they're primarily offensively based, will elemental staves increase their accuracy? If so, you can bet that backline/mage sub will be heavily preferred in that case as well. Though if accuracy is good, and weapon skill rating high...might be a moot point.
The point that the job will require some finesse to play seems to indicate to me that it'll be designed for frontline use. We also don't know what traits the job might have. Could have inherent Dual Wield for all we know.
What I suspect is that it may be similar to THF in the same ways PUP is similar to MNK. Most likely with a similar system for dances as COR has for rolls, with damage based ones that depend on mainhand ACC. So barring native traits that render things moot, probably /NIN. But it's really hard to say.

Never been a huge fan of tactics). I think eventually we'll see some DNC/THF's or DNC/NIN's dual wielding daggers in the latter case, acting as a debuffing THF primarily, without the marksmanship abilities.
Hybrid jobs have not been successful in hybrid roles in FFXI though. We as a community have forced specialization and truncating responsibilities into each job's niche for maximum efficiency. COR's rarely get to use their DD side at endgame events (no one really pays attention to them as long as they're getting their rolls in EXP from my experience), SMNs are glorified healers/buffers through /whm and BP's (you never see a SMN sitting with their Avatar out for longer than Earthen Ward/Aerial Armor/Diabolos casting time), RDM's cannot effectively melee in the eyes of the community (you see RDM tanking yes, but that may be one of the few exceptions left), et cetera. But yet it seems that SE keeps introducing hybridized jobs. So why? The only things I can come up with is a desire on SE's part to "let the community find the job's role" more than to clearly define it into a set niche any more, which I feel is a direct result of the intent of NIN and the end result of NIN. Just a thought.
They're still pretty limiting if you've got a couple jobs that don't overlap skillwise. 16 Magic skill only lets you fully merit 2-3 mage jobs' skills. 1-2 if you go with BLU, SMN, or BRD magic. Weapons are a bit more flexible, but Katana, Great Katana, Scythe, Club, etc, are only useful on one job basically.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
Another 4-8 points in each would be nice, especially if the two(?) new jobs have any unique combat or magic skills.
Meh, those new WS look pretty shiny and cool and I'll probably be too busy dancing like a pretty, pretty princess in a month to care.![]()
It does sound like a hybrid, elements of THF+RDM. So maybe subs would be /RDM or /NIN?
I was sure it was going to be a support class, with /WHM sub, but now maybe not. Interesting.
Don't need anymore skill points, it's fine the way it is. There is supposed to be a bit of a choice, not just let you be able to fully merit everything in the world.
Is it not support like COR isn't support then eh? ;-)
I think subs are going to be a lot like how COR uses subs. You can play COR very effetivly with /RNG, /NIN, and /WHM, others too. They all have their uses and strengths.
Dancer will be the same.

he already said that, it borrows the name and not much else. there are no jobs in FFXII or VS like FFT. there were no Viera, Bangaa, Seeq in FFT, no Judges in FFT.Originally Posted by Lujei
Wasn't FFT just on one continent though? That could be a retroactive explaination for why there were only humes and moogles more or less.
The latest FF Retrospective on gametrailers.com explains this (as best as possible as there is no official timeline) and the relation of FFT with FFTA, Vagrant and FFXII.Originally Posted by evilpaul
I wonder if their dances count as "spells", and if that were the case, if they would be helped by Fast Cast or not (let alone Haste for recast purposes). Otherwise I can see them making the dances as job abilities. Either way, if it's more focused on DD and damaging dances for the mobs, then a more DD centric sub might be in order. Otherwise, it's probably going to be more of job that will be helped most by a mage type sub (especially if the dances count as spells). I guess only time will tell, of course.
Though, the BLU in me hopes it'll be buff/debuff centric and get another Refresh buff... BRD + RDM + COR + DNC + BLU + BLU = ??? (Profit?)
BST in FF was around before Mediator in Tactics.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
Im just saying to correct that guys chart, hes speculating that there is no Mediator in 11. BST were known as Mediators before FF11; so Mediator is already in the game.Originally Posted by Khamsin
if there was a whm because it seems like a support job and people will naturally think hey brd/whm sup dnc/whm (even though it may or may not be optimal) then i would have picked that. went with nin
Call me crazy, but I'm hoping /war to tank.
Where the hell is the Dancer/PUP option.
Master and Puppet dancing will be the single most powerful combo in the game.
