Yar, FF12 was based on FFTA's story rather than FFT methinks. Everything but the job system as there are no jobs in 12, unless you play the Job Specific playthrough.Originally Posted by layoneil

I remember SE saying it was the same world, though I don't precisely remember where. Also, the monster information mentions St. Ajora. I could be wrong on this though, I didn't really like XII.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

What did moogles look like in FFT? Same as the TA/XII ones?
Maybe this has already been mentioned, but the summons/espers/whatever they were called in FFXII are the zodiac braves from FFT.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Moogles were not in FFT-- They were extinct, along with Vierra, Bangaa etc.
FFT took place long after FFTA and FFXII, hence why there are no other races in it. If you look at Sweegy Woods' description in FFT, it mentions Moogles inhabiting it before they went extinct. There weren't even Airships in FFT, they were all destroyed/buried, along with robots.. Presumably from FFXII's time. This leads to the assumption that the only way Balthier will be present in FFT: The Lion War is that he goes into the future via some portal through time.
As for the 'mainstream' FF series borrowing nothing from Tactics, FFXI got it's subjobs largely from Tactics. I haven't played the earlier games in a long time, but I don't recall any sort of SJ system. The only thing that comes close would be FFVII's materia, and even then, FFT and FFVII were very close in release date, if FFT didn't come first. (I don't remember the dates.)
Just because FFT and FFTA use a different battle system(FFXI and FFXII do too, yet you don't discriminate against them,) you can't alienate them from the series. Last time I checked, they both contained the name Final Fantasy
Also, FFT FFTA and FFXII/Vagrant Stories(?) are all on the same continent if I recall.
FFT allowed you to add abilities learned from one job to another such as Equip Shield or one of the movement+ ones for lack of a better example.
It was also full of typos that I had screenshotted.
And had an ending with Delita that I still think made no goddamned sense.
For some reason when thinking about dancer i'd imagine it being a support job subbing whm, similar to brd. If it were a melee full on DD job obviously either nin or war? Guess we'll have to wait and see really, and I for one can't wait.
FF5 let you do that, too. Like Equip Shield, or the ability to cast White Magic on your Black Mage.Originally Posted by evilpaul

Guessing it's going to be like DRK/NIN/BLU (fighter slash caster). If it's MP reliant and/or they're better at their "spells", I say WHM. If they're not MP reliant and/or they're perceived more like a DRK (the spells aren't what you'd look at), I say NIN.
Something tells me it'll be more DRK-like (melee + offensive spells), except the dances might not be actual magic, there will be less of a focus and fighting and more on dancing, and the dances will be more enfeebling than various offensive stuff.
That was probably confusing.![]()
