Just reinstalled windows, but a problem...

After I logged in for the first time after installing XP Pro, I get these weird graphic glitches. I currently have:

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
2.75 Ghz, 1.00GB of RAM

Radeon 9500 PRO/9700

Note I'm not a real computer genius, so this was all I could dig up about my computer. Not sure how to check on other specs. I tried installing a drivers they listed for my graphics card, but it still doesn't fix it.

Settings are at 1024 x 768
Color quality: Highest (32 bit)

Any help is appreciated.

Just restarted about 20 times. Another thing that's been happening is after I restart it, it would freeze and stuff after I'm completely on the desktop screen. After this freezing is done, it would appear normal again, but POL and stuff would get all slow and the graphics would get wonky. Not sure how much more I can describe it without sounding stupid. I could take a screenshot maybe, let me see.

The ATI icon on the desktop there is the latest driver I downloaded from the site. The result is what you see in the screenshot. I have restarted multiple times, even installing the .NET framework 2.0 or whatever to get the catalyst control center and still no go. Not sure if I should just replace the card or whatnot, since I'm startin to run out of options.

This card was the same card I used before the whole reformatting, so not sure what else I did to get it to work properly before.

Just installed an earlier drivers version 7.8 and fudged around with the AGP setting. Was set at 8x, and I lowered it to 4x and it *seems* like it's working now. Hopefully it's stable enough... for now.

Make sure your card is connected properly and the monitor is connected to it tightly... I know this sounds stupid but it happens...

and if you have on board graphics make sure those are disabled
