I always loved the idea of the game and love reading about the wars and politics of it all, but does the game still have a pretty ridiculous learning curve? I never really put in the time and effort to become a competent player though so I don't know how difficult it is to start out. Is there any getting started guides or anything out there to kind of show a new player what there is to do in the game? What kind of big changes have they made that might draw in new players since the game's initial launch?

Double Skill points up to 2m points, uh, easier fitting, controls, rigs, etc. There's a whole tutorial program that covers all the way up to cruisers.

There's tons to do, easy ways into pvp, pve, missions, etc.

@avelle EVE definitely has its learning curve but if you dive in and play what the game has to offer, there really is no gaming experience like it imo. Most people are really helpful if your new since EVE is so deep and complex, I've been playing nearly 2yrs and still learn new things everyday. One of the main reasons I like EVE is it forces player cooperation like FFXI, give it a try! Like Eanae said CCP has made it easier for new pilots to do PvP and missions and such.

btw is that BG channel still up lol?

If there are some BG dudemans that wouldn't mind being bothered by noob questions I may download the trial and float around space as cannon fodder for all you pros out there. I hear there are decent pve things to do, something about wormholes. I shall have to do more reading.

It was a rifter/battlebadger/whateverthefuck op to "save" the OWN pos from PL oppression to say we "helped". Naturally it was a very :welp: moment. We landed on grid and half the fleet shot the pos, half the fleet shot PL, and the rest started shooting each other. There's a BG channel setup that Kiro, myself, Chezo, and Tekki used to use. It's still there and we can answer questions.

I might be game for that. I don't think my account is worth reactivating and I'd rather use a trial than spend 14 bucks on finding out I still don't enjoy the game much. Got a lot of homework this weekend so I may hit you up early in the coming week.

I just picked up this game two weeks ago to play with some people from the guild I joined for FFXIV that all quit that game. As my first non SE MMO, I am pretty amazed by how quick and easy the interface is. I really don't know what I'm doing, but I'm about halfway through the tutorials. In game name is Beeanx Brickwall if anyone wants to go ahead and drop some isk on me hah!

But otherwise, I'm enjoying the game; I wish I started it earlier though.

Kinda off topic from the above, but dayyyyuuummm that new character creator they're releasing is amazing. Regardless of your opinion of the whole Avatar/Walking in Stations thing, judging it on graphics alone, its just beautiful.

EVE never ceases to push the Hardware bar up while other MMO's worry about universal subscriber coverage. It's ballsy to tell your customers "Buy a new computer or GTFO"

And speaking of amazing new features, with CCP killing off the learning abilities, they have made one of the smartest changes in a long time. Newbies no longer feel like they have to afk for their first two months and vets like me get some usefull skills .... you picked a good time to join Muay.
